|Length of program||4 years|
|Internships||Mandatory, Elective, Extracurriculars|
Internships in foreign companies or institutions are a key element of our education process. They provide a first direct contact between the student and the professional area where the knowledge acquired at university can be applied. They will give the student a global vision of International Relations, as well as a vision of the functioning dynamics of the entities related to this professional area, such as a government entity, a non-governmental entity, an international organization, a think tank, a consultancy firm or a company. At the same time, they will also help in the development of a professional contact network, which will help students introduce themselves into the labor sphere. The School has an agreement with more than 500 companies where the students prepare themselves to face the labor market.
The main objective of the work experience program is to guarantee the development of curricular work experience in a public or private institution, national or international, in the field of international relations.
The work experience period will allow the student to apply the education received, the right professional exercise of the profession in the sector of International Relations, and acquire a global comprehension of professional activity in this area, the different professional profiles, and the work dynamics concerning the different International Relations sectors.
There are two kind of external internships: curricular and extracurricular.
The curricular internships are those integrated in our studies program: the work experience will take place at the same time as the Seminar VII. This will allow the students to share their professional experience with the rest of the group and to apply the specific International Relations professional competences studied under the seminar program. The students will have two tutors: one in the university and another in the collaborating entity. The academic tutor will be the same Seminar VII tutor, which will allow consistent monitoring and evaluation of the education process. The tutor of the host institution will be the person responsible for defining the internship program, accompanying the student and giving advice at any time. There will be fluid communication between the two tutors during the traineeship. At the end of the work experience period, the student is asked to deliver a written report with a summary of his experience.
The extracurricular internships are all the others that the student can do voluntarily and that are not integrated in the School’s studies program, even though they have an exclusively educational purpose, so, in consequence, they must be included in the European Diploma Supplement (SET). In all cases, any internship must be compatible with the student's school schedule. Internships can be paid or unpaid, according to the company or institution.
In the following link you will find the extracurricular work experience program.
The student also has the chance to do an internship abroad thanks to the different agreements with companies under the Erasmus+ program.
The School’s academic normative (only available in Catalan) establish the curricular and extracurricular work experience rules in its 17 point. See the link.
The School’s tutor will provide the students the criteria to complete the internship and the parameter to do the work experience memory. Here you will find a guide to do the memory.
