Graduates in Primary Education and Sports Sciences

The double degree course in Primary Education and Sports Sciences provides comprehensive training in the two degrees and enables prospective professionals to have an integrated vision of the disciplines included in the different fields of knowledge particular to each study.

Primary Education teachers are responsible for guaranteeing the integral education of children, in the developmental stage of 6 to 12 years old, to allow them to develop their skills. They are innovative professionals, with sound training, promoters of advances and pedagogical practices in the different cycles of Primary Education, in the context of an inclusive school open to families and environment. Furthermore, Primary Education teachers are specialised in Physical Education and can teach this subject in this educational stage.

Sports Sciences professionals are the specialists in the physical activity and sports sector, which is more and more dynamic and with wider social relevance. Thanks to these two core axes of their profession, their current job opportunities have to do with the field of socio-educational intervention – in a broader sense, not only school-based-, sports and physical training activity, eco-leisure-related activities, public healthcare intervention, and sports management.

The competences acquired in this double degree course enhance professional practice with an integral and interdisciplinary vision, which results in better quality teaching of physical education from six to eighteen years of age, as well as training in the different aspects of physical activity and sport, whether concerning children, adults or the elderly.

The physical admission tests to get into the degree course in Sports Sciences and the double degree course in Primary Education and Sports Sciences for the 2021-2022 academic year have been called off due to the pandemic situation.

Our added value

The educational training offered at Blanquerna-URL is supported by more than 70 years of experience in teacher training and 20 years of experience in sports sciences. Academic and professional success in the fields of education and sports is based on quality training that allows us to meet the needs of current society. Our proposal is based on personalized pedagogy, with work in small groups and seminars of 12 to 15 students standing out. Practice placements are a core element in all the five degree years, carried out in renowned centres –both national and international-, supervised and followed up by a tutor- Likewise, the level of internationalization of our studies is taken into account, both concerning the linguistic competence in English and the possibility of developing part of the training curriculum in foreign universities or doing practice placements abroad.

This active method, approaching the professional world and confirmed scientific rigour, makes Blanquerna a centre with its own style of doing university that allows us, in an atmosphere of dialogue and participation, to promote entrepreneurship, creativity and critical mind to meet the needs of the working sector.

Service for Elite Athletes

The advising service for students who are elite athletes at FPCEE Blanquerna-URL was founded during the 2003-04 school year, only two years after the start of the Sports Sciences degree course, in the face of increasing demand for quality university education. The overall goal of this service is to provide these students with assistance in incorporating university studies through quality and academically sound individualized attention. Measures to attend diversity already exist in high school, and it is only logical for it to continue to be offered by universities.

Elite athletes willing to enrol for this double degree course are exempt from taking the Sports Sciences physical admission tests.
