Temporomandibular dysfunction is a condition that affects a significant percentage of the population. For this reason, we propose training that attempts to provide the knowledge (theoretical and practical) that allows you to establish a correct diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment for orofacial and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunctions.

The TMJ behaves pathologically like any synovial joint and in addition to the suffering and impairment of the muscular and bony structures of the joint, adjacent structures such as the skull, face, ear, cervical spine, shoulder, tongue, diaphragm, etc. may also be compromised, and all of them must be considered and present in the therapeutic approach proposed for each patient.
The presence of the physiotherapist within the neurology, maxillofacial, dentistry and ENT units is more common, where the conservative approach to the different dysfunctions and pathologies is absolutely essential. Therefore, a solid understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the TMJ is necessary in order to be qualified to manage these dysfunctions.

A growing number of scientific studies demonstrate the effectiveness and importance of manual physiotherapy and therapeutic exercise, within the biopsychosocial model, so this training proposal responds to the population's needs to access physiotherapists trained in neuromusculoskeletal disorders of the head, jaw, ear and neck.

Who is it aimed at?

Graduates in Physiotherapy and 4th year students of the bachelor's degree.
