Treating pregnant women requires a deep knowledge of the physiology of pregnancy and appropriate techniques to avoid any risk to the health of the mother or baby. This course provides physiotherapists with the tools and knowledge to assess and treat disorders that cause pain (lower back pain, lumbosciatica, pain in the pubic symphysis, etc.) safely and effectively, using techniques adapted to the state of pregnancy.

Who is it aimed at?

Graduates in Physiotherapy and 3rd and 4th year students of the bachelor's degree.

Course content

  1. Introduction to Pregnancy:
  2. Physical and Biomechanical Changes.
  3. The first pelvic physiotherapy visit
  4. Techniques for assessing lower back and pelvic pain in pregnant women.
  5. Manual therapy to reduce pain, improve lumbar stability and mobility.
  6. Relaxation and pain control techniques.
  7. Precautions and contraindications in the treatment of pregnant women.
  8. Strategies for the prevention of postpartum lower back and pelvic pain.
  9. Therapeutic exercises to improve lumbar and pelvic stability and mobility: Group therapy

Certificate of attendance

Course participants will receive a certificate of attendance. Attendance to 80% or more of the sessions is required to obtain it.
