This course is designed to give you a deep and practical understanding of functional assessment and sports rehabilitation. Throughout the course we will explore key concepts, useful tools and helpful strategies that will help you develop your skills and competencies.

Who is it aimed at?

Graduates in Physiotherapy and 4th year students of the bachelor's degree.

Course content

  • Basic concepts of functional assessment
  • Importance of assessment in sport

  • Structural tests on the plinth (ROM and restrictions)
  • Functional assessment tests (Movement)
  • Strength tests with different technologies
  • Biomechanical impairments
  • Correct activation pattern and motor control

  • Clinical decision-making processes
  • Identification of movement patterns and dysfunctions
  • Coherence as a tool
  • Qualitative vs Quantitative assessment

  • Definition of the rehabilitation professional and their role in the different phases.
  • Different phases in the rehabilitation process.
  • Criteria as an argument for progress in the rehabilitation process.
  • Control of external and internal load in the rehabilitation process.
  • Individualization of the process with its different tools (GPS, RPE, dynamometer, isometric bands, isokinetic devices, etc.)
  • Medical discharge and return to competition
  • RTP process (decision-making in relation to the competitive profile and the initial assessment of the athlete)

  • Contextualization of the risk factors of different sports.
  • Strategies for the design of prevention plans.

  • Psychological impact of injuries on the athlete.
  • Multidisciplinary strategies with the work team and individual strategies with the athlete in the different phases.

  • Real cases of assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Practical workshop for applying acquired knowledge.

Certificate of attendance

Course participants will receive a certificate of attendance. Attendance to 80% or more of the sessions is required to obtain it.
