Immersing themselves in practical contexts is an opportunity for students to gain meaningful learning through contact with key professionals, patients, and others in the clinical setting. Care center professionals (clinical tutors) and university faculty members (academic advisors) must follow common educational lines and strategies in order to guarantee the quality of learning within the university framework. Therefore, acquiring the pedagogical tools to facilitate and guarantee an optimal intern mentoring and assessment process is key for the healthcare professionals involved. So, this training course aims to lay the foundations of the training process and unify criteria in relation to the learning and assessment of the internship, and how to accompany students in their achievement.

Objectives

Know the characteristics of the degrees within the framework of the European Higher Education Area

Understand the teaching-learning process

Identify students' learning styles during internships

Integrate reflective practice in the different educational processes

Aimed at:

Clinical tutors of the Blanquerna-URL School of Health Sciences.

Course content

Session 1: Acquiring tools for mentoring of interns

  • Internships in Health Sciences
  • Creating effective learning environments
  • The adult learning style
  • The key figures during the internship: student, clinical tutor and academic advisor
  • The responsibility of the student and the clinical tutor in the practical learning process
  • Communication during mentoring
  • Pedagogical tools during the mentoring process
  • Use of reflective practice


Session 2: Strategic assessment of interns

  • The importance of assessment
  • Assessment criteria and methods
  • Planning of key assessment moments
  • Difficulties in assessment
  • Conflict management and resolution during the assessment process


Session 3: Integrating the clinical tutor's skills through simulation
This session aims to integrate the knowledge shared in the first two sessions and develop the necessary skills for growth as a clinical tutor. The methodology used to achieve this goal will be to resolve and analyze situations through simulation.
