Academic Regulations of the School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences Academic Year 2026-2027
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Bachelor's degrees
1.1. Purpose
The purpose of bachelor’s degree studies is for students to obtain a general education in one or more disciplines, aimed at preparing them to engage in professional activities.
1.2. Credits and teaching load
The European credit (ECTS), as defined in Royal Decree 1125/2003, of September 5, is the unit of measurement for teaching and represents the student’s workload. This unit of measurement encompasses theoretical and practical instruction as well as other directed academic activities, including the hours of study and work that the student must carry out to achieve the learning objectives of each course in the curriculum. The undergraduate curricula have a teaching load of 240 credits, distributed at a rate of 60 credits for each academic year.
Each ECTS credit corresponds to 25 hours of work. In addition to in-person work (group classes, small-group classes, seminars or practical classes), the student attends tutorials, carries out work outside the classroom directed by the professor and also completes the independent and group work required to pass the assessment of the different courses. Ordinarily, except for the bachelor’s degree thesis (TFG) and the Practicum, the workload for each ECTS credit is distributed as follows:
- 8 hours of in-person work
- 8 hours of directed work outside the classroom and tutorials
- 9 hours of independent work
In the case of the bachelor’s degree thesis, the workload is as follows:
- 2.5 hours of in-person work
- 2.5 hours of directed work outside the classroom and tutorials
- 20 hours of independent work
In the case of the Practicum, the workload varies depending on whether or not there is an assigned subject.
Distribution of hours when there is an assigned subject:
- 15 hours of placements in centers
- 2.5 hours of in-person work
- 2.5 hours of directed work outside the classroom and tutorials
- 5 hours of independent work
Distribution of hours when there is no assigned subject:
- 20 hours of placements in centers
- 2.5 hours of in-person work
- 2.5 hours of directed work outside the classroom and tutorials
1.3. Structure of undergraduate studies and type of courses
Undergraduate curricula are structured through courses of different ECTS credits. There are different types of courses according to the following classification:
- Basic training: these are foundational courses for the student’s initial training or cross-disciplinary courses.
- Compulsory: these are established by the Ramon Llull University (URL) for each type of studies and are compulsory for all students who wish to obtain the same qualification.
- Elective courses: these are determined by Ramon Llull University and are offered to the student to choose those necessary to pass the elective credits established in the curriculum. Taking a specific elective track may lead to earning a specialization.
- External internships (see Bachelor’s Degree External Academic Internship Regulations).
- Bachelor’s degree thesis.
Beginning in the 2016/2017 academic year, students enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs whose curricula have been modified must adapt to the changes in the Academic Regulations concerning the modifications to their respective curricula, which will be phased in year by year.
General conditions for enrollment in Blanquerna-URL FPCEE studies.
2.1. Enrollment must be completed within the deadlines set for each academic year. At the time of enrollment, students must meet the requirements and have the appropriate documentation (see Documentation required for pre-enrollment and enrollment). The date and time will be duly announced by email to new students, and via the virtual platform or email to students already studying at the School.
In general, students who begin their studies must enroll for the entire first year. However, they may be offered more flexibility regarding the minimum number of credits required for enrollment. Specifically, students will be offered the option of following a personalized plan that makes part-time study possible, so that they can reconcile their studies with work, family life or any other justified and documented circumstance they may cite. To do so, they must fill out a credit load reduction request at the time of pre-enrollment or before enrollment. In such cases, students may enroll in as few as 50% of the scheduled credits. For all subsequent academic years, students must enroll in a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 78 credits per year (except for students taking a second degree in Education). Students pursuing double majors, double degrees or concurrent studies may enroll in a maximum of 90 credits.
To take a 2nd degree in Early Childhood Education or Primary Education, students may have only 6 credits or the bachelor’s degree thesis from their previous degree still pending. In this case, the 2nd degree may be taken at a slower pace, with prior authorization from the corresponding degree coordination office, bearing in mind that students may never take both bachelor’s degree theses at the same time.
2.2. Students will enroll each semester in the corresponding seminar. In the case of the bachelor’s degree in Psychology and the bachelor’s degrees in Education, students must have passed the preceding seminar(s) before enrolling in a seminar.
- 2.2.1. In the case of students with credit recognition studies due to transfer of records with more than 30 ECTS that can be recognized or personalized itineraries, the academic management team of each Degree will assess which seminar will be necessary for enrollment based on its pedagogical content.
2.3. Students in Sport and Exercise Science (curriculum prior to 2025/2026), Speech and Language Therapy (curriculum prior to 2025/2026) and Sports Management have a compulsory 2nd-year course in order to reach a B2 level of English. When enrolling in the course, students are advised to have already reached a B1 level of English.
2.4. Students beginning their undergraduate or double major studies at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE in the 2017-2018 academic year or later may not enroll in any 3rd-year course unless they have taken and passed a minimum of 90 credits.
2.5. If a course or seminar classified as basic training, compulsory, internship or bachelor’s degree thesis is not passed (including a grade of no-show) in the academic year in which the student was enrolled, they must re-enroll in it in subsequent academic years until it is passed.
- 2.5.1. Only elective courses do not require re-enrollment, since they can be dropped. Students who wish to drop a failed elective course (i.e., not enroll in it the following academic year so that they can choose another elective course instead) must request this by filling out an open application. Once their application is accepted, they will not be able to re-enroll in the dropped course.
2.6. Obtaining the DECA qualification (Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic Competence) in the bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and the bachelor’s degree in Primary Education after having completed another bachelor’s degree at Blanquerna FPCEE.
To obtain the DECA qualification, a student must take and pass the courses Individual, Culture, Religion and Values; Christianity and Culture; Theory and Didactics of the Catholic Religion I (DECA I) and Theory and Didactics of the Catholic Religion II (DECA II).
If the recognition pathway between bachelor’s degrees includes recognition of the course Individual, Culture, Religion and Values, this course may count as 6 ECTS toward the DECA qualification. Even if the subject “Christianity and Culture” is recognized through the recognition pathway, it must be taken in order to obtain the DECA qualification.
2.7. The total tuition fee for enrollment for an academic year will be calculated based on the number of credits enrolled plus, where applicable, the cost of any seminars not passed on the first attempt, in which the student must re-enroll in subsequent years until they are passed.
2.8. To facilitate class attendance, students who have to repeat a course must avoid scheduling conflicts between courses from different years in their enrollment (by enrolling in the outstanding courses in the alternate schedule, if the degree offers one).
2.9. In all bachelor’s degree programs, students may only enroll in the bachelor’s degree thesis (TFG) once they have enrolled in the 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-year seminars of the corresponding degree. For the incompatibilities that apply to each degree, see Appendix 2.
2.10. During their bachelor’s degree studies, students who have obtained a distinction (MH) grade in any course will be entitled, in the immediately following academic year of the same degree, to enroll free of charge in the same number of credits as the course in which they obtained this grade, up to a maximum of three credits per course.
Students in the final year of their degree may receive this benefit if, in the following academic year, they enroll in another official bachelor’s degree or university master’s degree at any of the Blanquerna-URL schools, except for the bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, which is governed by different regulations.
2.11. Enrollment modifications. Students who wish to modify their enrollment must apply directly to the Academic Secretary’s office of the School no later than September 22 for first-semester or year-long courses and no later than February 12 for second-semester courses. Regarding the modification of elective courses, enrollment modifications will be accepted until September 13 (inclusive) for first-semester elective courses and until February 3 (inclusive) for second-semester elective courses. In the case of the bachelor’s degree in Primary Education and the bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, enrollment in elective courses may be modified no later than September 18 for first-semester courses and no later than February 10 for second-semester courses.
- 2.11.1. With regard to modifications to enrolled elective courses, students must submit their request to the corresponding degree coordination office. Once approved by the coordination office, students must send their request to the Academic Secretary’s office ([email protected]). The Academic Secretary’s office will not make any changes without prior email authorization from the corresponding degree coordination office.
Within the same period (September 22 and February 12):
2.11.2. Students may only request to drop courses when justified by one of the following circumstances:
- Submitting an employment contract that demonstrates the difficulty of balancing studies and work. If the duration of employment is not specified in the contract, a certificate issued by the company, showing the expected duration, must be submitted. If deemed pertinent, additional documentation may be requested.
- Serious changes in personal circumstances. Supporting documentation of the situation must be provided.
- Timetable changes made after enrollment has been completed that have caused overlaps between enrolled courses or difficulties in balancing studies and work.
Students who are in one of these situations and wish to request to drop a course must fill out an open application and attach the documentation supporting their request. If the student does not attach the documents supporting their request to the application, they must remedy the omission within a maximum of five business days; otherwise, their application will be rejected.
2.12. Schedule changes (except for 1st-year students). Submitting a request for a change of schedule does not guarantee that a change of schedule will be granted. It will depend, in all cases, on the availability of places in the requested course/schedule.
Schedule changes may only be requested in the following cases:
- Submitting an employment contract that demonstrates the difficulty of balancing studies and work. In contracts that do not include the working hours and/or duration, students are required to present a certificate of the expected time issued by the company where this information is included. The length of the contract and the number of hours of the working day will be taken into account. In all cases it must be accompanied by the corresponding certificate of employment.
- Serious changes in personal circumstances. Supporting documentation of the situation must be provided.
Difficulties in balancing studies and sport for high-performance athletes (EAN) of the highest category (DAN/AR/ANC). Supporting documentation of the situation must be provided.
2.12.1. Students in any of these situations may request a change of schedule by filling out a schedule change request, no later than July 1. These requests will be resolved before July 15.
If the schedule change request is submitted after July 1 and before January 15, the change, if accepted, will take effect as of the 2nd semester. These requests will be resolved during the second half of January.
If the schedule change request is submitted after the second semester has started, according to the start date shown in the current academic calendar, the change will be considered for the following academic year and will be governed by the provisions of the first paragraph of this section.
- 2.12.2. In the event that the documents justifying the request are not attached to the application, the application will be rejected.
In the School, the degree in Psychology, the degree in Primary Education and the degree in Sport and Exercise Science offer different specializations within their itineraries.
In the following links you will find the list of the specializations of each degree:
- Specializations of the degree in Psychology
- Specializations of the bachelor's degree in Primary Education
- Specializations of the bachelor's degree in Sport and Exercise Science
Graduates who want to add a new specialization to their degree, must provide the corresponding pre-enrollment, in person, to the Student Information and Orientation Service (SIOE) of Blanquerna-URL FPCEE during the period of application for a place.
Students of the School who wish to study concurrently at another center of the URL or at another university must submit their request to the center they will be joining. If the concurrent studies request is accepted, the student must submit the acceptance document to the Academic Secretary’s office of Blanquerna-URL FPCEE, where they will pay the corresponding fees for transferring their academic record for concurrent studies.
For students from another URL center or from another university
4.1. Students from another URL center or from another university who wish to pursue concurrent studies at our School must apply to the Academic Secretary of the Blanquerna-URL School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences (FPCEE) by filling out a concurrent studies request during the application period and attaching the documentation specified therein. They must also complete the procedures required by their home university.
4.1.1. In the case of concurrent studies with the bachelor’s degree in Psychology or with the double majors in Psychology, applications will only be accepted from students who, at the time of submission, can prove that they have passed a minimum of 45 credits and have an average grade of 8 or higher on their academic record.
The response to the concurrent studies request will include a credit recognition study that will be delivered to the student by email:
- 4.1.1.a. If 30 or more of the student’s credits can be recognized, they will be sent the result of the admission process, which will depend on the number of places available.
- 4.1.1.b. If fewer than 30 of the student’s credits can be recognized, their admission process will be as set out in the enrollment section for the bachelor’s degree in Psychology on the Blanquerna-URL FPCEE website. In such cases, the student must enroll in the entire first year and may not add courses from other years to their enrollment.
For students of Blanquerna FPCEE
4.2. Blanquerna-URL FPCEE students who wish to take another bachelor’s degree concurrently at the same School must apply to the Academic Secretary of the Blanquerna-URL School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences (FPCEE) by filling out a concurrent studies request-FPCEE, and attaching their pre-enrollment for the corresponding degree, during the application period.
4.2.1. In the case of concurrent studies with the bachelor’s degree in Psychology, applications will only be accepted from students who, at the time of submission, can prove that they have passed a minimum of 30 credits. The average grade on the academic record of the students applying will be taken into account in order to draw up a ranking and allocate the available places, where applicable.
The response to the concurrent studies request will include a credit recognition study that will be delivered to the student by email:
- 4.2.1.a. If 30 or more of the student’s credits can be recognized, they will be sent the result of the admission process, which will depend on the number of places available.
IMPORTANT:
- Students may request recognition of courses in the studies they are currently enrolled in, provided that those courses have not already been passed.
- Courses that appear in the original record as recognized or passed by compensation cannot be subject to recognition.
Although recognized credits must always be included in the student’s enrollment, credit recognition will be free of charge in the following cases:
- If, at the time of admission to a bachelor’s degree through a transfer of academic record, 30 or more of the student’s credits can be recognized (up to a maximum of 120 credits).
- If the credits were taken within the Blanquerna Foundation.
In all other cases, recognized courses will receive a 25% discount on the credit price (see the recognition request process). The price of a recognized credit will be the credit price for the academic year in which the student adds the course(s) to their academic record.
5.1. Recognition of credits obtained in official degrees at other universities (up to a maximum of 120 credits).
Students who wish to join a bachelor’s degree program at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE with diploma, licentiate or bachelor’s degree studies begun or completed at another school must pre-enroll in the corresponding program. They must also fill out, during the application period, a request for a preliminary credit recognition study, attaching a photocopy of the academic record for the degree they began and a photocopy of the syllabi of the courses they have taken, stamped by the center of origin.
- 5.1.1. If the previous studies were undertaken in a country outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the student must attach to their application a certificate of equivalence of credits and grades issued by the Ministry of Education (you can find it at this link).
- 5.1.2. For admission to the bachelor’s degree in Psychology or to double degrees that include Psychology, applications will only be accepted from students who, at the time of submission, can prove that they have passed a minimum of 45 credits and have an average grade of 8 or higher on their academic record.
- 5.1.2.2. The credit recognition study will be delivered to the student by email once it has been completed:
- 5.1.2.2.a. If 30 or more of the student’s credits can be recognized, they will be sent the result of the admission process, which will depend on the number of places available.
- 5.1.2.2.b. If fewer than 30 of the student’s credits can be recognized, their admission process will be as set out in the enrollment section for the bachelor’s degree in Psychology on the website of Blanquerna-URL FPCEE.

Once enrolled, to request recognition of courses, the student must download the recognition request and send it, duly completed and signed, by email to [email protected] from the second half of September until October 2 (inclusive), during the first half of February or during the month of May.
5.3. Recognition of credits for Advanced Vocational Training Cycles.
In accordance with Royal Decree 1618/2011, of November 14, on the recognition of studies in the field of higher education, graduates of an Advanced Vocational Training Cycle (CFGS) may apply for validation of the credits obtained in these studies, according to the equivalences established for Blanquerna-URL FPCEE degrees. You can find more information at this link.
Once enrolled, to request recognition of credits for Advanced Vocational Training Cycles, the student must download the corresponding recognition request and send it, duly completed and signed, by email to [email protected] from the second half of September until October 2 (inclusive), during the first half of February or during the month of May.
You can find the credit recognition request forms for CFGS at this link.
Credits recognized on the basis of a CFGS are not given a numerical grade and are not counted when calculating the weighted average of the student’s academic record. As a result, the granting of this credit recognition may be incompatible with the renewal of the Ministry’s scholarship for the following academic year. Students are advised to consult the current scholarship regulations on the Ministry’s website
5.4. Recognition of the English course.
Students who can prove, by means of a recognized official certificate, that they have reached a B2, C1 or C2 level of English may request recognition of the English course. See the table of certificates and diplomas accrediting knowledge of a third language.
To request recognition of the English course, the student must download the recognition request and send it, duly completed and signed, by email to [email protected] from the second half of September until October 2 (inclusive), during the first half of February or during the month of May. The request must be accompanied by a photocopy of the certificate proving successful completion of these studies.
Recognition of the English course is not given a numerical grade and is not counted when calculating the weighted average of the student’s academic record. As a result, the granting of this credit recognition may be incompatible with the renewal of the Ministry’s scholarship for the following academic year. Students are advised to consult the current scholarship regulations on the Ministry’s website.
5.5. In the case of concurrent studies, it is not possible to request recognition of credits that are taken in the same academic year.
5.6. The request for recognition, together with the corresponding documentation, will be reviewed by the Academic Secretary of the School, who will assess whether the proposal meets the minimum formal and substantive requirements for processing.
Recognition requests will be sent to the Ramon Llull University Credit Recognition Committee for a final decision, which may not be appealed and will be communicated to the applicant.
To decide on the recognition of subjects, the Credit Recognition Committee will take into account the adequacy between the competences and knowledge of the credits taken and those corresponding to the courses to be recognized.
5.7. Recognized courses will be recorded as such in the student's record. The provisions of this article will also apply to those Advanced Vocational Training Cycles (CFGS) that enjoy credit recognition in degree studies.
5.8. Any request for credit recognition that does not comply with the criteria set out in these regulations will not be considered.
5.9. Students may request to waive recognition of a course after the decision of the URL Credit Recognition Committee by filling out an open application. Once the waiver has been accepted and processed, the student may not request that recognition again under any circumstances.
- 5.9.1. Where feasible, replacing a recognized course with another may only be authorized when this is justified by the need to complete the elective requirements for a specialization.
When a student can obtain 6 ECTS for activities not included in the curriculum, they can stop enrolling in an optional course. To carry out this procedure, the student must submit the corresponding supporting document to the Academic Secretary’s office of the School.
- In the case of bachelor’s degrees with specializations, if the student does not enroll in a specialization elective course, they will not be able to obtain that specialization.
6.1. The student may forgo enrolling in up to 6 ECTS of elective courses once they accumulate 6 credits by participating in the activities listed below and in any others approved by the Dean’s Team of the School:

6.4. In accordance with Article 5.5 of Royal Decree 1125/2003, of September 5, credits recognized for activities not included in the curriculum will be considered elective credits and will not be given a numerical grade, nor will they be taken into account when calculating the academic record average.
6.5. Credits corresponding to activities not included in the curriculum will be recognized only if they are earned while the student is pursuing their studies, and will be added to the student’s academic record when the student requests this from the Academic Secretary’s office, always before their degree certificate is processed.
In the case of external academic internships, see the Bachelor’s Degree External Academic Internship Regulations.
With regard to extracurricular university academic internships at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE, these will be governed by the procedures established by the School for each call for applications.
This article describes the regulations for bachelor’s degree theses at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE. The thesis is defined in general terms for all bachelor’s degrees, and any specific features are set out at the end of the article.
8.1. Bachelor’s degree thesis – Introduction
The main objective of the bachelor’s degree thesis (TFG) is to assess the integration of the core competencies acquired during the degree. Essentially, it consists of preparing a research project or designing an intervention program that allows the student to demonstrate the integration of the competencies specific to the degree (1).
8.2. Presentation and subject matter
The bachelor's degree thesis is written during the fourth academic year and has its own seminar. The student decides the topic on which they want to do the paper, as well as its type, and is tutored by a professor-advisor specialized in research processes, who monitors the student throughout the course in the Seminar space.
The topics may be related to any of the areas of the profession and, where applicable, may also be linked to the center where the student is doing their internship or to the School’s research groups.
To prepare the bachelor’s degree thesis, the student may choose to carry out a research project or to design an intervention program, and the topics may be related to or refer to any of the areas of the profession (2).
8.3. Preparation
The work will be conducted individually. Projects must be written in Catalan, Spanish, or English. In any case, the thesis must include an abstract in English, Catalan, and Spanish.
- (1) In the case of double degrees, the curriculum provides for the completion of two bachelor’s degree theses, one for each degree, to ensure that students receive the fullest possible training in both.
- (2) In the case of the bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, the student must prepare a business plan, a management project, a strategic plan, or a research project, always focused on the sports management sector.
8.4. Follow-up
The bachelor's degree thesis will last two semesters and will be supervised by a professor-advisor, both individually and during the Seminar sessions. Thus, there will be a weekly space where the teacher-advisor will hold group seminar sessions in order to share the process being conducted (set guidelines and organize the activity, choose the topic, provide documentation, plan the activities, etc.). These Seminar sessions will be alternated with individualized follow-up/tutoring, in which each advisor will personally follow up on the thesis.
8.5. Assessment
There will be three grading systems and assessment times:
- The assigned advisor will continuously monitor each thesis throughout the academic year.
- Public presentation and defense before an assessment committee made up of two professors from the degree, preferably other than the advisor who supervised the thesis. In the case of the bachelor’s degree in Psychology, the advisor may not sit on the assessment committee.
- Written work: will be corrected by the professor-advisor. The weighting of the grade may vary according to the degree and can be consulted in the program of the subject.
8.6. Storage
The theses will be stored in PDF format by the degree program’s management on the corresponding shared drive, using the following naming convention:
“TFG_Degree_AcademicYear_Surname1_Surname2_FirstName”. Example: TFG_GLOG_2023-24_GrauPerezManel.
9.1. Students beginning their bachelor’s degree or double major studies at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE must pass a minimum of 18 credits, not counting any recognized credits, in their 1st year of enrollment in order to continue in the degree. Likewise, these students must pass a minimum of 18 credits, not counting any recognized credits, in their 2nd year of enrollment.
9.2. Students enrolling in any Practicum for the first time may enroll in it a maximum of three times; if they fail it on the third enrollment, they may not continue in the degree.
9.3. If a student decides not to continue their studies and to withdraw from the center during the academic year in which they are enrolled, they must submit a withdrawal request, duly signed, to the Academic Secretary’s office of the School. Once the request has been received, the student’s academic record will be closed and no further grades may be entered. Furthermore, as of the date of the withdrawal request, the School will stop issuing any remaining installment bills for the rest of the academic year.
- 9.3.1. Withdrawal does not under any circumstances entail a refund of amounts already paid.
9.4. If it is found that a student has more than three returned payments for deferred tuition installments and does not bring their account up to date before the fourth payment, after their case has been reviewed, their user account (access to SCALA and the Blanquerna network) and, exceptionally, their access to the School may be blocked.
9.5. Continuation of studies. Students who wish to resume their studies in subsequent academic years after withdrawing or dropping out must fill out an application for continuation of studies during the application period. Acceptance of the application for continuation of studies does not guarantee that the student will keep the schedule of their previous studies.
- 9.5.1. If the application is submitted in the middle of an academic year, the acceptance will always be understood to be for the beginning of the following academic year.
- 9.5.2. If students have bills pending, they will not be able to re-enter the School until they are paid.
10.1. Students who wish to continue at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE the studies they began at another school must apply for a place in the corresponding program. They must also fill out, during the application period, a request for a preliminary credit recognition study, attaching a photocopy of the academic record for the degree they began and a photocopy of the syllabi of the courses they have taken, stamped by the center of origin.
- 10.1.1. Once the response to the request for recognition of previous studies has been received:
- If a minimum of 30 credits can be recognized, the School's Academic Secretary's office will send the student an email with instructions to formalize enrollment. The corresponding credit recognition must be requested within the time limits established (see article 5).
- If a minimum of 30 credits cannot be recognized, students will have to follow the normal admission procedure and request recognition of the credits taken within the time limits established, if they so wish (see article 5).
- 10.1.2. For transfers to the bachelor’s degree in Psychology or to double degrees with Psychology, applications will only be accepted from students who, at the time of submission, can prove that they have passed a minimum of 45 credits and have an average grade of 8 or higher on their academic record. If the requirements are not met, the provisions set out in the enrollment section for the bachelor’s degree in Psychology on the School’s website will apply.
- ##349####349## ##350####350##
- ##349####349## ##350####350##
- 10.1.3. Obtaining a place at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE will involve the transfer of the student’s academic record, which must be processed by the university of origin once the student provides proof of having been admitted to the URL.
10.2. Blanquerna-URL FPCEE students who wish to continue studies at another university:
- 10.2.1. They will apply to the center they wish to access for a record transfer study. If granted, they will provide the Blanquerna-URL FPCEE Academic Secretary’s office with the letter of admission.
- 10.2.2. They will fill out a record transfer request, will send it by email to the Academic Secretary’s office of the School and will pay the corresponding fees to Blanquerna-URL FPCEE.
- ##367####367## ##368####368##
10.3. Students who wish to change the studies they began at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE must fill out a change of studies request during the application period for the following academic year (see the exception in section 10.3.2.). Requests will be reviewed and decided on according to the availability of places. If the request is accepted, the change of degree will take effect in the following academic year and the response sent to the student will include, where applicable, a list of the credits that can be recognized in the target degree.
- 10.3.1. If fewer than 30 credits can be recognized for the target degree, the student must pre-enroll in the corresponding program and follow the normal admission process.
- 10.3.2. For changes to the bachelor’s degree in Psychology or to double degrees with Psychology, applications will only be accepted from students who, at the time of submission, can prove that they have passed a minimum of 30 credits. The average grade on the academic record of the students applying will be taken into account in order to draw up a ranking and allocate the available places, where applicable.
- 10.3.2.1. The response to the change of studies request will include a credit recognition study, which will be delivered to the student by email once it has been completed:
- 10.3.2.1.a. If 30 or more of the student’s credits can be recognized, they will be sent the response to their change of studies request, which will depend on the number of places available.
- 10.3.2.1.b. If fewer than 30 of the student’s credits can be recognized, their admission process for the bachelor’s degree in Psychology or the double majors with Psychology will be as set out in the enrollment section for the bachelor’s degree in Psychology on the Blanquerna-URL FPCEE website.
- 10.3.2.1. The response to the change of studies request will include a credit recognition study, which will be delivered to the student by email once it has been completed:
The evaluation of the student's progress is based on the competencies developed in each of the courses in the curriculum. The courses are, therefore, the assessment units in each case.
11.1. General regulations
The fundamental criterion for assessing the course will be integrative assessment. The aim is to assess, overall, whether the student has achieved sufficient maturity in relation to the competencies and learning outcomes assigned to the course. The general criteria to be taken into account in student assessment are set out in this FPCEEB assessment framework document.
As part of formative and continuous assessment, faculty will regularly inform students of their progress throughout the semester.
Faculty may carry out various assessment activities during the semester and will not be obliged to repeat them for students who did not attend class on the day of the test. During the period set for final exams in the academic calendar, the course faculty may hold oral or written assessment tests or require the submission of continuous assessment assignments.
If, in the judgment of the faculty responsible, a student does not achieve certain competencies and learning outcomes of a course in the first sitting, they will fail the course but may make it up, provided their progress has been monitored during the semester. If a student does not pass a course in either of the two sittings for which they enrolled in the same academic year, they must re-enroll in it and take it under the conditions set out in the teaching plan.
Regarding the grading system, the level of learning achieved by the student will be expressed in numerical grades, in accordance with the criteria set out in Article 5 (grading system) of Royal Decree 1125/2003, of September 5. Results will be graded on a scale of 0 to 10 to one decimal place, to which the corresponding qualitative grade may be added:
- 0 - 4.9: fail
- 5.0 - 6.9: pass
- 7.0 - 8.9: good
- 9.0 - 10: excellent
A distinction (matrícula d’honor) may be awarded to students who have attained a grade equal to or higher than 9.0 in the total of a course. This award will be at the discretion of the course professor. The number of honor roll places awarded on a course per group cannot exceed 5% of the students enrolled, unless the number is less than 20; in which case, only one may be awarded.
- Students who obtained a distinction (MH) grade in any course will be entitled, in the following academic year, to enroll free of charge for the equivalent number of credits of the course in which they obtained this grade, up to a maximum of three credits per course.
- Students in their final year of studies may obtain this benefit if they enroll in another official Blanquerna-URL undergraduate or master’s degree the following year, except for the Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, which is governed by its own regulations.
In the case of reasonable evidence of irregularities in the performance of an evaluative test, the dean of the Blanquerna-URL FPCEE may invalidate it.
- 11.1.1. Students have the right to know which assessment criteria will be applied to consider the course passed; these criteria are defined in the teaching plan of the course.
- 11.1.2. Students have the right to see the assessment tests they have taken and the correction made, in addition to receiving advice from the faculty responsible, in order to enable better academic achievement.
- 11.1.3. Fraudulent conduct in an assessment test will result in the student failing the course (0.0) for that academic year.
- 11.1.4. A course that has been passed cannot be re-assessed.
- 11.1.5. At the end of each academic year, the institutional graduation ceremony is held for students who complete their studies at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE. It is, therefore, a farewell ceremony for the class that is expected to complete their studies. To take part in the end-of-degree graduation ceremonies, students must be in a position to have passed at least 75% of the credits of their degree by the end of the academic year.
- 11.1.6. Where final exams are held, they must take place within the period set by the center in the academic calendar.
- ##427####427## ##428####428##
- ##429####429## ##430####430##
##437####437## ##438####438##
- 11.1.7. Once the test has begun, no student may leave the classroom until thirty minutes have elapsed (in tests lasting one hour, no student may leave the classroom until twenty minutes have elapsed). During this period, students who arrive late may be admitted. After this period of time, no student will be allowed to enter; students arriving later will be considered as no-shows (no presentat, or NP). A student who decides to leave the classroom without having responded to the test may do so by signing the attendance sheet; in this case, the faculty member may be asked to deem it an NP. An NP may be considered in these two cases as long as the student is not taking a continuous evaluation.
- 11.1.8. When the student finishes the test and hands it in to the professor, the student must sign an attendance sheet in front of the professor.
- 11.1.9. The student has the right to ask the professor for a documentary proof at the end of the test as proof that the student has completed it.
- 11.1.10. The professor has the right to request identification from the student by means of an ID card, School card, driver's license or passport, at any time during the assessment tests.
- 11.1.11. The faculty must keep the evaluation test material for at least two academic years, and, in the case of an appeal, until it has been resolved.
11.2. Number of sittings. Each course has a teaching plan in which the assessment criteria are defined, with the possibility of having two assessment sittings (January-February or June-July) during the same academic year.
The two sittings are:
- First semester courses: January-February
- Second semester courses: June-July
- Annual courses: June-July
11.3. Early sitting:
Students enrolling in the final credits needed to complete their studies may request an early sitting for courses in which they have already enrolled without passing in previous years, provided that they have no more than 12 credits left to complete and that the teaching plan of the subject(s) for which the early sitting is requested allows for a final assessment based on a single exam.
- Practicums are not eligible for an early sitting.
- In the case of the bachelor’s degree thesis, the approval of the corresponding advisor will be required.
An early sitting does not mean that the student has three sittings during the academic year; rather, it means bringing forward one or both of the two sittings to which official enrollment entitles the student.
This sitting must be requested by filling out an early sitting request before the end of July to bring the sitting(s) forward to the extraordinary period, and before the end of October to bring course sitting(s) forward to January/February.
- 11.3.1. When course sittings are brought forward to the extraordinary period, requests will be resolved during the first week of September, and the assessment tests will be held from September 14 to 17, with official grade records closing on September 20 (1st sitting); and from September 27 to 30, with official grade records closing on October 3 (2nd sitting).
- 11.3.2. When course sittings are brought forward to January/February, requests will be resolved during the second week of November, and the assessment tests will be held on the dates indicated in the academic calendar for the 1st sitting / 2nd sitting of 1st-semester courses.
- 11.3.3. Once the early sitting has been granted, only the second sitting can be waived.
- 11.3.4. If the student is paying the course fee in monthly installments and wants to complete the procedure for obtaining a qualification, the concession of an early sitting could imply a change in the installments payable, given that the full amount of the fees must be paid for the degree to be awarded.
11.4. Regulations for extraordinary assessment processes.
- 11.4.1. Review of final grade. Students who disagree with the final grade for a course may request a review within a maximum of seven business days³ from the date on which grades are communicated.
- 11.4.1.a. The student must complete a final grade review request, stating the reasons, and submit it to the Office of the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Teaching Innovation. The professor teaching the course must respond in writing within no more than seven business days⁴ and send the response to the Office of the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Teaching Innovation to be forwarded to the student.
- 11.4.1.b. If the review leads to a change in the grade, the official record must be changed.
- 11.4.2. Extraordinary examining board. If the student still disagrees with the final grade for the course, they have seven business days from the date on which they are notified of the professor’s response to follow the appeal procedure and request a review by an extraordinary examining board. In order to submit this request, the review referred to in section 11.3.1 must first have been carried out.
11.4.2.a. The request for an extraordinary examining board to be formed must be submitted individually to the Dean’s Office. The dean will appoint an examining board made up of three professors from the department to which the course under appeal belongs; under no circumstances may the faculty teaching the course under appeal sit on the board. The function of this examining board will be to resolve the appeals raised by the students in relation to the assessment. The examining board will make its decision, and the result will be communicated to the student in writing within a maximum of ten business days of the board being formed.
³ Teaching days, Monday to Friday. Vacation periods will not count as business days in these cases. Cases involving the second sitting of second-semester courses may be resolved in September.
⁴ In the case of second sittings of second-semester courses, the faculty’s response will be given between September 1 and 7.
- 11.4.2.a.1. Prior to the resolution, the examining board may carry out the following actions:
- Carry out a new correction of the assessment tests.
- Dismiss the appeal, once the case has been considered.
- In the case of an oral exam, summon the student to retake it.
- In the case of a written exam, the exam may not be totally or partially annulled. However, the examining board may set a supplementary test.
- Request all the documentation related to the qualification of a course in order to be able to evaluate the student's academic progress as a whole.
- 11.4.2.a.1. Prior to the resolution, the examining board may carry out the following actions:
- 11.4.2.b. As a last resort, and in accordance with the URL statutes, the student may appeal to the rector of this university within the regulatory period, which will be four working months from the date of notification of the result of the appeal to the student. Once the rector has resolved it, there will be no possibility of further appeal.
- 11.4.2.c. The fact that a student has requested a review of the final grade of a course and is awaiting a resolution does not exempt the student from taking the exam that may be in progress. In the event that the resolution of the first exam is favorable, the second will be annulled.
- 11.4.3. Challenge to an academic assessment. On the initiative of a student, a group of students or the School Council, and in the event of disagreement with significant formal aspects of an academic assessment, a challenge may be filed by petition to the dean. In this case, the dean may, where appropriate, have the academic assessment repeated or refer the case to an ad hoc examining board, which will reach a decision within no more than fifteen business days. In any case, in view of any anomalies detected in an academic assessment, the dean may decide to cancel or repeat it.
- 11.4.4. Assessment by compensation. Students who have only one course left to complete their studies and who have failed it in at least six sittings (not counting no-shows) may request an assessment by compensation for this course, provided that they meet the following requirements:
- At the time of submitting the application, have used at least 6 sittings (not counting no-shows) for the last course remaining to complete the degree.
- In the year in which the application is submitted, the course for which assessment by compensation is requested must be enrolled.
- Have a minimum grade of 4 on a scale of 0 to 10, with 5 as a pass, or, if another grade is used, the grade that the examining board considers statistically equivalent.
- In the case of students adapted to a new curriculum or transferred from another university, the failed exams from the previous curriculum will be taken into account.
- 11.4.4.a. To request it, the student must fill out an assessment by compensation request within five days of the publication of the final grades for the sitting (see the academic calendar). The student will receive a response within a maximum of five days from the date the request is submitted.
- 11.4.4.b. Practicums and the bachelor’s degree thesis of any degree are not eligible for compensation, nor are the following courses:
- Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy:
Applied Linguistics (curriculum until 2024/2025)
Linguistic Bases of Communication (curriculum starting 2025/2026) - Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education:
Catalan Language –C1– and Spanish Language –C1–
Oral, Written and Digital Communication
Mathematical Knowledge and Activity in Early Childhood Education - Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education:
Catalan Language –C1– and Spanish Language –C1–
Oral, Written and Digital Communication
Mathematical Knowledge and Activity in Primary Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy:
- 11.4.4.c. Compensation may only be requested once.
See the International Relations Regulations.
13.1. Admission tests will be adapted, where necessary, in terms of timing, format and procedure for students with any type of disability or specific educational support needs in higher education (NESES), in accordance with their particular needs. Interested students must provide up-to-date certification of their disability or NESES from a recognized external professional and must first request an interview with the SOP-ATENES program staff in order to define the corresponding measures and support. The interview can be arranged through the SIOE (carrer Císter, 34, by telephone at 93 253 30 06, or by email at [email protected]).
13.2. Students will be assessed following the same equitable criteria established for the rest of the students to pass the admission tests (with the necessary measures and support). If the student passes the tests, and so requests, the student will have access to the 5% of places reserved for students with disabilities.
13.3. Once the needs are known, the Psychopedagogical Guidance Service (SOP-ATENES), together with the coordination of the studies, will take the appropriate measures in order to ensure the student with a disability or Specific Educational Support Needs (NESES) has maximum accessibility both to the various spaces and equipment of the School as well as to the information.
13.4. Students who begin their studies must enroll for the entire first year. Where circumstances justify it, the student may request, subject to an assessment of the case by the Psychopedagogical Guidance Service (SOP-ATENES), a reduction in the number of credits in which they must enroll. This can be done by filling out a request for a credit load reduction. This request will be evaluated and the resolution will be communicated in writing to the student.
13.5. Students with some type of disability or Specific Educational Support Needs (NESES) may request from their faculty those materials for monitoring and support of the course that they have planned for class sessions throughout the course. To anticipate these needs, and in coordination with those responsible for the Psychopedagogical Guidance Service (SOP-ATENES), students may, if necessary, request an interview with the corresponding professor well in advance, so that, where applicable, the professor has enough time to make the appropriate adaptations (no later than 15 days before the end of the semester). If the necessary adaptations are beyond the professor’s capabilities, the professor will inform the Psychopedagogical Guidance Service (SOP-ATENES) program.
13.6. Academic tests assessing the competencies achieved will be adapted, where appropriate, in terms of timing, format and procedure for students with any type of disability or specific educational support needs (NESES), according to their particular needs, without this implying any change in the competencies or the level of achievement that the student must demonstrate in that course.
13.7. With regard to possible partial or total exemptions from the third-language course for students with a certified hearing impairment, the recommendations of the Inter-University Council of Catalonia document and the SOP-ATENES assessment report will be taken into account.
13.8. Measures will be put in place to promote the participation of students with specific educational support needs (NESES) in international mobility programs (see the International Relations Regulations).
See the document Guidelines for High-Performance Student Athletes (EAN).
15.1. The Official Academic Certificate (CAO) can be requested from the Student Portal in SCALA. It must be paid for by credit card (the corresponding fees will apply) and will automatically become available in the document repository. The certificate will be issued in the language of the student’s choice (Catalan, Spanish or English) with a QR code and CSV.
15.2. The average grade for the studies completed will be the weighted average of the grades in the academic record. This weighted average will be calculated by multiplying the numerical value of each grade by the number of credits of the corresponding course. All the products will then be added together and the total divided by the number of credits of the corresponding program.
15.3. In accordance with Royal Decree 1044/2003, of August 1, the weighted average, based on the following equivalences, will also appear on the official academic certificate:
- Fail: 0
- Pass: 1
- Good: 2
- Excellent: 3
- Distinction (Matrícula de honor): 4
- Recognition: Recognized credits without a grade will not be taken into account for weighting purposes.
16.1. The bachelor’s degree certificate may be requested by students who have passed all the course credits, as well as the corresponding seminars, in accordance with the curriculum, and whose academic record status in SCALA or PortAL, once grades have been published (see the academic calendar), appears as “Closed and eligible for degree certificate.”
16.2. The bachelor’s degree certificate can be processed in two ways:
- 16.2.1. Online, through SCALA/PortAL. See the instructions manual at this link.
- 16.2.2. In person, at the Academic Secretary’s office of the center. When completing the procedure, the following documentation must be submitted:
- A photocopy of both sides of a valid ID card (expired documents are not accepted).
- A photocopy of the qualification used to gain admission to the studies (PAU university entrance exam results slip, Advanced Vocational Training Cycle, second-level vocational training (FP2) qualification, results slip for the entrance exam for applicants over 25, etc.).
- Students who have completed a double degree must submit a photocopy of the receipt for their previous degree certificate.
- Payment of the fees for issuing the degree certificate.
- Following new guidelines from the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE), as of January 20, 2022, students in the bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and the bachelor’s degree in Primary Education who meet the requirements to obtain the DECA qualification (Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic Competence) must complete the procedure directly with the CEE. All information can be found at: https://www.conferenciaepiscopal.es/deca/
16.3. Important: The date on which the certificate is processed, whether it is done in person or by self-service, will be the date of completion of studies that will appear on the final diploma/degree.
16.4. Once issued, the degree certificate must be collected in person by the student. If they are unable to do so, they may authorize another person, always by means of a notarized power of attorney, to collect it on their behalf (Official State Gazette (BOE) of July 13, 1988).
Starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, the bachelor’s degree student who obtains the highest average grade on their academic record, as calculated under the academic regulations, will receive the Award for the Best Academic Record in the Graduating Class.
The average will be calculated the day after official grade records close for the second sitting of the second semester. The student who receives this award may, in subsequent years, having passed the admission process and subject to the availability of places, enroll in another official degree or own degree at the Blanquerna Foundation, with the credits enrolled free of charge up to a maximum of 60 ECTS.
This discount cannot be combined with discounts arising from distinction (MH) grades.
See the document Blanquerna Foundation Disciplinary Regime.

University master's degrees
The Organic Law 11/83, of August 25, on University Reform, establishes in Article 28.3 that universities, in the exercise of their autonomy, may offer courses leading to their own degrees and diplomas.
Pursuant to this article, in Spain there are both official degrees and own degrees.
Official bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees are endorsed by the university that awards them and recognized by the State. These studies undergo a comprehensive assessment process that guarantees their quality and allows them to be included in the Registry of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT) of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
Own degrees (master’s degree, university specialization diploma and university expert diploma) are subject to each university’s internal quality processes and are backed by the prestige of the university that awards them. They are recognized at a professional level, but do not have the official status provided for in Article 28.1 of the aforementioned Organic Law.
Overview
Official master’s and PhD programs make up the second and third cycles of university education; they are therefore training programs aimed at the academic, professional or research specialization of graduates. These programs are regulated in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, establishing the organization of official university education, Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2, amending it, and Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, on doctoral studies, subsequently amended by Royal Decree 534/2013, of July 12, Royal Decree 43/2015, of February 2, and Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28.
University master’s degree
University master’s degree studies include advanced training of a specialized or multidisciplinary nature, with the aim of guaranteeing academic or professional specialization in a given field and, where appropriate, research training. They have a minimum length of 60 ECTS and a maximum length of 120 ECTS. Once completed, an official university master's degree is awarded. The contents and names of the master's degrees are decided by the universities, following a favorable report from the autonomous community and the University Coordination Council.
Introduction
1. Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, and subsequently Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2, and Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, as amended by Royal Decree 43/2015, of February 2, and by Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, establish a new organization of the Spanish university education system based on a bachelor’s, master’s and PhD structure, on the path toward building a common European Higher Education Area (EHEA) for all European Union member states.
2. In short, these Royal Decrees determine the legal framework for official university master and PhD courses, which must allow Spanish universities to design their own courses for specialized and research training flexibly and independently.
1.1. Admission to official master’s degree studies requires an official Spanish university degree or a degree issued by a higher education institution in the European Higher Education Area that gives access to master’s degree studies in the country where it was issued.
1.2. Students with a foreign higher education degree may be admitted to official master’s degree studies once their degree has been convalidated as a Spanish degree that gives access to such studies, in accordance with Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28.
1.3. Universities may also admit graduates of foreign education systems without needing to convalidate their qualifications, if it can be verified that they accredit a level of training equivalent to an official Spanish university degree and that they qualify the student to undertake graduate studies in the country of issue. Such admission will not imply, under any circumstances, convalidation of the foreign degree or its recognition for any purpose other than that of pursuing graduate studies.
13.3.1. In the case of the University Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology (MUPGS), since the entry into force of the Organic Law of the University System, any official foreign university degree in Psychology is valid for admission to this master’s degree, provided it meets the requirements established in Order CNU/1309/2018, of December 5.
The Resolution of November 16, 2023 of the General Secretariat of Universities, publishing the Agreement of the Council of Universities that sets out recommendations for demonstrating compliance with the requirements established in Order CNU/1309/2018, has clarified how these requirements are to be demonstrated and verified; it was published in the BOE (Official State Gazette) on December 14.
See the document Procedure for Requesting Validation of Foreign Degrees for Admission to the MUPGS.
1.4. Students can access any official master's degree program, whether scientifically related to their university curriculum or not, as long as they comply with the specific requirements and assessment criteria that the university imposes for admission to each program.
1.5. Students who have not yet obtained the Bachelor's Degree and who, in order to complete it, have still to complete a maximum of 9 credits and/or the bachelor’s degree thesis (see article 4.3.), may conditionally enroll in the program.
1.6. The universities will guarantee priority in the enrollment of those who have the official university degree.
Article 2. Structure of official master’s degree studies
2.1. The university graduate studies leading to the official master's degree will have a minimum of 60 ECTS and a maximum of 120, and will contain all the theory and practical information that the student must acquire: compulsory subjects, elective subjects, seminars, external internships, supervised work and final master's degree thesis.
2.2. Credits and teaching load
The European credit (ECTS), as defined in Royal Decree 1125/2003, of September 5, is the unit of measurement for teaching and represents the student’s workload. This unit of measurement encompasses theoretical and practical instruction as well as other directed academic activities, including the hours of study and work that the student must carry out to achieve the learning objectives of each subject in the curriculum.
Each ECTS credit corresponds to 25 hours of work. Besides the in-person work, through group classes, small group classes, seminars or practical classes, the student attends tutorials, undertakes work outside the classroom directed by the faculty and also carries out the autonomous and group work necessary to pass the evaluation of the various modules and subjects. Ordinarily, except for the master's degree thesis and the internship, the distribution for each ECTS credit is distributed as follows:
- 8 hours of in-person work
- 8 hours of directed work outside the classroom and tutorials
- 9 hours of independent work
In the case of the master’s degree thesis, the workload is as follows:
- 2.5 hours of in-person work
- 2.5 hours of directed work outside the classroom and tutorials
- 20 hours of independent work
In the case of the Practicum, the workload varies depending on whether or not it has an assigned subject.
Distribution of hours when there is an assigned subject:
- 15 hours of placements in centers
- 2.5 hours of in-person work
- 2.5 hours of directed work outside the classroom and tutorials
- 5 hours of independent work
Distribution of hours when there is no assigned subject:
- 20 hours of placements in centers
- 2.5 hours of in-person work
- 2.5 hours of directed work outside the classroom and tutorials
2.3. The official master's degree studies will be structured into modules or content courses that will usually have a course load of 6 or 9 ECTS.
3.1. The University will assign a specific number of credits to each of the courses and training activities of the program.
3.2. The School responsible for running the program will set the minimum number of credits, as well as the program courses that each student must take, based on their previous training. In any case, to obtain the master’s degree, it will be necessary to take a minimum of 60 ECTS within the program.
General conditions for enrollment in Blanquerna-URL FPCEE studies.
4.1. Enrollment must be completed within the deadlines set for each academic year. At the time of enrollment, students must meet the requirements and have the appropriate documentation. The date and time will be duly announced by email and on the School’s website.
4.2. The total tuition fee for an academic year will be calculated according to the corresponding number of credits. The price of each course will be determined by the number of credits it carries.
4.3. Depending on whether or not they already hold a qualification giving access to the master’s degree, admitted students will fall under one of the following two types of enrollment:
- Conditional enrollment: Students who have not yet obtained their bachelor’s degree and have no more than 9 credits and/or the bachelor’s degree thesis left to complete it.
- To be eligible for conditional enrollment, the student must be enrolled in the outstanding credits of their bachelor’s degree and sign this information document, accepting the specific conditions of their conditional enrollment.
- Until the student has completed the bachelor’s degree that gives them access, they may not defend their master’s degree thesis and therefore cannot obtain the master’s degree.
- Unconditional enrollment: Students who already hold a qualification giving access to the master’s degree. Completing enrollment is the final step in securing a place in the master’s degree.
4.4. Students who wish to join a university Master's degree program by transferring their records must have an interview with the coordinator of the Master's degree program in which they are interested. This interview will take place when the student pre-enrolls for the Master's program. Without the approval of the coordination, the student will not be able to enroll.
4.5. Students who start the university master's degree must enroll at least part-time. Where circumstances justify it, the student may request, subject to an assessment of the case by the Psychopedagogical Guidance Service (SOP-ATENES), a reduction in the number of credits in which they must enroll. They may do so by filling out a credit load reduction request. This request will be evaluated and the resolution will be communicated in writing to the student.
4.6. Students who obtained a distinction (MH) grade in any undergraduate course will be entitled, in the following academic year, to enroll free of charge for the university master's degree with the equivalent number of credits of the course in which they obtained this grade, up to a maximum of three credits per course. Similarly, students who obtained a distinction (MH) grade in any university master's degree course will be entitled, only in the following and consecutive academic year, to enroll free of charge in another university master's degree for the equivalent number of credits of the course in which they obtained this grade, up to a maximum of three credits per course.
4.7. Enrollment modifications. Students who wish to modify their enrollment must apply directly to the Academic Secretary’s office of the School no later than October 9 for first-semester or year-long courses and no later than February 5 for second-semester courses.
Within the same period:
Students who are in one of these situations and wish to request to drop a course must fill out an open application and attach the documentation supporting their request.
- 4.7.2. Regarding the modification of enrolled elective courses, the Academic Secretary’s office will not make any changes without prior email authorization from the corresponding master’s degree coordination office.
4.8. Blanquerna-URL FPCEE reserves the right not to start a given program if the minimum number of enrollments required is not reached.
5.1. Students may request from the center recognition of credits taken and passed in university master’s degrees leading to a different qualification, up to a maximum of 50% of the credits of the master’s degree in which they are enrolling. To obtain a preliminary credit recognition study, the student must pre-enroll in the corresponding program and fill out a request for a preliminary credit recognition study, attaching a photocopy of the academic record for the degree they began, or for the studies completed, and a photocopy of the syllabi of the courses they have taken, stamped by the center of origin.
5.2. A request for recognition can be made only once, for all the courses for which credit recognition is requested. The request may only be resubmitted in the case of credits from other official studies taken after the date on which the recognition was granted.
5.3. To request recognition, the student must download a recognition request and send it, duly completed and signed, by email to [email protected] from the second half of September until October 2 (inclusive), during the first half of February or during the month of May. The request must be accompanied by the following documentation:
- Personal academic certificate showing the passed courses for which recognition is sought and the number of credits of these courses.
- Syllabi of the courses for which recognition is sought, stamped by the center where they were taken.
- In the case of credit recognition for certified work and professional experience, students must submit the certificate of employment and the employment contract for the period for which recognition is requested.
5.4. Students may request from the center recognition of credits for certified work and professional experience in accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007, as amended by Royal Decree 861/2010, under which up to 15% of the total credits of the university master’s degree may be recognized. For a 60-ECTS master’s degree, a maximum of 9 credits may be recognized.
5.5. In the case of the university master’s degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary Education and Upper Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Language Teaching, since enrollment is by modules rather than by subjects, recognition will take the form of a reduction in internship hours at the training center. To request this recognition, the student must fill out an open application, attaching the corresponding supporting documentation, from the second half of September until October 2 (inclusive), during the first half of February or during the month of May. The response to the application will be sent directly by the master’s degree coordination office.
5.6. In the case of concurrent studies, it is not possible to request recognition of courses taken in the same academic year.
5.7. Courses or modules from degrees that give access to graduate studies are not eligible for recognition, as they have already been taken into account in the prior admission process.
5.8. In accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, as amended by Royal Decree 43/2015, of February 2, credits corresponding to the master’s degree thesis may not be recognized.
5.9. Although recognized credits must always be included in the student’s enrollment, credit recognition will be free of charge for credits taken within the Blanquerna Foundation.
In all other cases, recognized courses will receive a 25% discount on the credit price (see the recognition request process). The price of a recognized credit will be the credit price for the academic year in which the student adds the course(s) to their academic record.
5.10. The School will send requests for recognition to the Ramon Llull University Credit Recognition Committee for their decision, which will be final and the student will be informed accordingly.
5.11. In order to recognize a course, the Ramon Llull University Credit Recognition Committee will take into account the concurrence of contents (at least 75%) and the course load. In no case may a higher number of credits than those taken be recognized.
5.12. Courses that have been recognized will have a grade equivalent in points to the grade obtained in the center of origin.
5.13. The recognition is valid for three years if the enrollment is not formalized.
5.14. Students may waive recognition within one month of being notified that it has been granted by filling out an open application. Once the waiver has been processed, the student may not request that recognition again under any circumstances.
As regards extracurricular internships, they can be taken on a voluntary basis during the student's studies and, although they have the same purpose as curricular internships, they do not form part of the corresponding curriculum. However, they will be taken into account in the European Diploma Supplement according to the regulations in force.
To take the extracurricular internships, the student must be enrolled and, at the same time, have taken and passed the compulsory curricular internships. Exceptionally, they may be taken concurrently with prior authorization from the coordination of the university master's degree.
Students may enroll for 6, 9, 12 or a maximum of 15 ECTS credits of extracurricular internships. Students may enroll in these credits in a single enrollment or in several consecutive enrollments, paying 25% of the fee, and the internships may not take place in August.
For legal and academic reasons, neither extracurricular nor curricular internships may be carried out at companies with which the student has an employment, statutory or contractual relationship (see the External Academic Internship Regulations). In all cases, the relationship established between the student and the internship center is strictly academic and not employment-related, and the relationship between the parties is formalized by signing the Student Registration Document for the external academic internship program, which is incompatible with an employment contract.
7.1. Introduction
The main objective of the master’s degree thesis (TFM) is to assess the integration of the core knowledge and competencies acquired throughout the university master’s degree (MU). The student may choose to prepare a research paper, a case analysis, a systematic review, an intervention program design or a business plan, as agreed with their advisor. Its purpose is to foster the application of the skills and knowledge acquired in the other subjects of the master’s degree and to facilitate the development of the subject’s competencies. It must be carried out individually and under the supervision of the assigned advisor. The master’s degree thesis will conclude with its defense, in which the student must give a public presentation before an assessment committee.
7.2. Presentation and subject matter
In 60-ECTS MUs, the TFM is carried out from the first semester and, in the case of 90-ECTS MUs, from the second semester, and it is compulsory in both cases. The student decides the topic and type of the TFM. There is a weekly session called the TFM Seminar, in which a professor-advisor with a PhD can monitor students’ progress throughout the academic year. The topics may be related to any of the areas of the profession and, where applicable, may also be linked to the center where the student is doing the internship or to the School’s research groups.
7.3. Preparation
The work will be conducted individually. They may be written in Catalan, Spanish, or English. In any case, the thesis must include an abstract in English, Catalan, and Spanish and follow APA style.
7.4. Follow-up
In 60-ECTS MUs, the preparation of the TFM will last two semesters and will be supervised by a professor-advisor with a PhD, both individually and during the weekly 2-hour seminar sessions. There will therefore be a weekly slot in which the professor-advisor will hold group seminar sessions to discuss the work in progress (setting guidelines, organizing the activity, choosing the topic, providing documentation, planning activities, etc.). These sessions will alternate with individual tutorials (in person or online), in which each advisor will provide personalized monitoring of the thesis.
In the case of 90-ECTS MUs, the course is delivered through tutorials in which the professor monitors the master’s degree thesis, also in person or online, beginning in the second semester and ending in the third.
7.5. Assessment
For assessment purposes, in accordance with the RAT and RAM learning outcomes (set out in the TFM subject), the appropriateness of the objectives and methodological design, their suitability to the topic of study and the context, and the monitoring carried out in the (group) seminar and individual tutorials will be taken into account.
Using the systems set up for this purpose and within the period established by the School, the student must evaluate the TFM. This assessment is part of the teaching-learning process and is crucial for the development of the subject, given that it will help the faculty who teach it to improve the quality of the teaching plan.
There will be three grading systems and assessment times:
- Degree of involvement, motivation and progress on the TFM, assessed on the basis of continuous monitoring throughout the academic year by the assigned advisor.
- Public presentation and defense before an assessment committee made up of two professors from the master’s degree who hold a PhD.
- Written work graded by the professor-advisor in accordance with APA style guidelines.
The weighting of the grade may vary depending on the MU and can be found in the subject syllabus.
If the student fails the TFM, they may present it in the second sitting. If they also fail the second sitting, they must re-enroll in the subject.
8.1. To be able to continue the studies of a university master's degree at the School, students must pass at least 12 credits from among all the credits they have enrolled, not counting those recognized, if any, in the two sittings corresponding to the academic year in which they started them.
8.2. A student who has not passed a course after six sittings of the same subject will not be able to continue his or her studies in that university master's degree.
- 8.2.1. In the case of the University Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology, students who have not passed Practicum I or Practicum II after four sittings may not continue their studies in this university master’s degree.
- 8.3.1. Withdrawal does not under any circumstances entail a refund of amounts already paid.
- 8.3.2. Continuation of studies. Students who wish to resume their studies in subsequent academic years must fill out an application for continuation of studies during the application period.
9.1. Students who wish to continue at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE the university master’s degree studies they began at another school must pre-enroll in the corresponding program. They must also fill out a request for a preliminary credit recognition study, attaching a photocopy of the academic record for the degree they began and a photocopy of the syllabi of the courses they have taken, stamped by the center of origin.
- 9.1.2. Obtaining a place at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE will involve the transfer of the student’s academic record, which must be processed by the university of origin once the student provides proof of having been admitted to the URL.
9.2. Blanquerna-URL FPCEE students who wish to continue studies at another university:
- 9.2.1. They will apply to the center they wish to access for a record transfer study. If granted, they will provide the Blanquerna-URL FPCEE Academic Secretary’s office with the letter of admission.
- 9.2.2. They will fill out a record transfer request, send it by email to the Academic Secretary’s office of the School and pay the corresponding fees to Blanquerna-URL FPCEE.
- 9.2.3. The Academic Secretary’s office will send the official transcript to the destination center.
The evaluation of the student’s progress is based on the competencies developed in each of the modules or courses in the curriculum. The modules and courses are, therefore, the assessment units in each case.
10.1. General regulations
- The unit of assessment is the module or subject. The aim is to make an overall assessment of whether the student has reached sufficient maturity in relation to the competences attributed to the module or course.
- Students have the right to know which evaluation criteria will be applied to any course.
- The faculty must keep evaluation materials for at least two academic years, and, in the case of an appeal, until the appeal has been resolved.
- Students have the right to see the result and the criteria for correcting the assessment, and to receive advice from the professor responsible, in order to improve academic performance.
- The faculty will inform students of the provisional grades and will give them a date and time prior to the evaluation meeting to address any questions they may have.
- A course that has been passed cannot be re-assessed.
However, when a student has to re-enroll in a module of 12 or more ECTS credits, they must pay 50% of the fee if their grade for the failed module was 4 or higher out of 10. If a student has to re-enroll in a course, they must pay for it in full. Likewise, a failed seminar must also be paid for at the price set for each academic year.
Regarding the grading system, the level of learning achieved by students will be expressed in numerical grades, in accordance with the criteria set out in Article 5 (grading system) of Royal Decree 1125/2003, of September 5. The results obtained by the student will be graded on a scale of 0 to 10 to one decimal place, to which the corresponding qualitative grade may be added:
- 0 - 4.9: fail
- 5.0 - 6.9: pass
- 7.0 - 8.9: good
- 9.0 - 10: excellent
A distinction (matrícula d’honor, MH) may be awarded to students who have obtained an overall grade of 9.0 or higher in a course.
In the case of reasonable evidence of irregularities in the performance of an assessment test, the dean of Blanquerna-URL FPCEE may invalidate it.
If, in the judgment of the faculty responsible, a student does not achieve certain competencies of a university master’s degree course in the first sitting, they may make it up in the second sitting of the same academic year. If a module or course is not passed in either of the two sittings, the student must re-enroll in it and take it again in full.
Fraudulent conduct in any assessment test will result in failing the course (0.0) in that academic year.
10.2. Regulations for extraordinary assessment processes.
- 10.2.1. Students who disagree with the final grade for a course may request a review within a maximum of seven business days⁵ from the date on which grades are communicated.
- 10.2.1.a. The student must complete a final grade review request and state the reasons. This request must be addressed to the professor and submitted to the University Master’s Degrees Office. The professor must respond in writing within no more than seven business days and send the response to the program’s administrative office to be forwarded to the student.
- 10.2.1.b. If the review leads to a change in the grade, the official record must be changed.
- 10.2.2. If the student still disagrees with the final grade for the course, they have seven business days from the date on which they are notified of the professor’s response to follow the appeal procedure and request the formation of an extraordinary examining board. In order to submit this request, the review referred to in section 10.2.1 must first have been carried out.
- 10.2.2.a. The request for an extraordinary examining board to be formed must be submitted individually to the Dean’s Office. Unless there is a procedural defect, the dean will appoint an ad hoc examining board, which must be formed within a maximum of ten business days of the date of appointment and will be the competent body to decide on the appeal. The examining board will make its decision and communicate the result to the student in writing within a maximum of ten business days of the date on which the board is formed.
- 10.2.2.a.1. The examining board will be made up of three professors from the department to which the course under appeal belongs; under no circumstances may any professor who teaches the course under appeal sit on the board.
- 10.2.2.a.2. The examining board, prior to its resolution, may carry out the following actions:
- Regrade the assessment test.
- Dismiss the appeal once the case has been considered.
- In the case of an oral exam, summon the student to retake it.
- In the case of a written exam, the exam may not be totally or partially annulled. However, the examining board may set a supplementary test.
- Request all documentation referring to the grading of the course, in order to be able to assess the student’s academic progress as a whole.
- 10.2.2.b. As a last resort, and in accordance with the URL statutes, the student may appeal to the rector of the University within the regulatory period, which will be four working months from the date of notification of the result of the appeal to the student. Once the rector has resolved it, there will be no possibility of further appeal.
⁵ Teaching days, Monday to Friday. Vacation periods will not count as business days in these cases.
10.3. Assessment of the master’s degree thesis
Before completing their studies, the student must submit a research or intervention master’s degree thesis, which will be supervised by a professor with a PhD who teaches on the master’s degree. The thesis will be defended publicly before a committee made up of professors and PhD holders from the master’s degree program. In the case of the research track, the thesis supervisor and the members of the committee must be accredited by ANECA, AQU or an equivalent agency.
Two printed copies and/or one copy in PDF format of the master’s degree thesis must be submitted to the coordinator of the master’s degree, who will send them to the members of the Assessment Committee within the deadlines indicated.
For the defense, the student will have ten minutes, during which they must focus on the aspects of the thesis they consider most relevant and provide a clear, precise and complete summary of it. Once they have finished their presentation, they must respond to the observations, comments and questions of the committee members.
The master's degree thesis may be written in Catalan, Spanish, English or another language. If a language other than Catalan or Spanish is used, a summary of the thesis must be submitted in one of these languages.
The criteria for assessing the master’s degree thesis relate to the competencies achieved in preparing the written work, its defense and the research or intervention internships. To obtain a pass, students must have passed the assessment of all three components. Consequently, the final grade will be the result of several partial assessments:
- Written work. With regard to the finished work, the various aspects considered by most scientific publications to ensure the coherence and quality of research or intervention work will be assessed.
- Oral defense of the thesis. With regard to the competencies achieved in the oral defense, the clarity, precision, originality and quality of the oral presentation of the thesis will be assessed, bearing in mind that this is considered a substantially different part of the work, in which the student must prioritize content and adapt to the requirements of oral communication before an examining board.
10.4. Assessment sittings
Students enrolled in university master’s degrees at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE are entitled to two assessment sittings in the same academic year.
- 10.4.1. The two sittings are:
- First-semester modules or courses: February-September
- Second-semester modules or courses: June-September
- Annual modules or courses: June-September
- 10.4.2. For the purposes of academic certification, only the sittings in which the student has been assessed according to the criteria specified in each case are counted.
10.5. Early sitting
Master’s degree students may request an early sitting when the only credits they have left to pass are those of the master’s degree thesis and they are enrolled in them.
An early sitting does not mean that the student has three sittings during the academic year; rather, it means bringing forward one of the two sittings to which official enrollment entitles the student.
This sitting must be requested by filling out an early sitting request before the end of October.
- 10.5.1. If the student is paying the tuition fee in monthly installments, the granting of an early sitting will involve a change to these installments, since the full tuition fee must have been paid by the time the student completes their studies.
- 10.5.2. Once the early sitting has been approved, it cannot be waived.
11.2. Students will be assessed following the same equitable criteria established for the rest of the students to pass the admission tests (with the necessary measures and support). If the student passes the tests, and so requests, the student will have access to the 5% of places reserved for each university master's degree program for students with disabilities.
11.3. Once the needs are known, the SOP-ATENES, together with the coordination office of the university master’s degree in which the student is enrolled, will take the appropriate measures to ensure that students with any disability or NESES have maximum accessibility both to the School’s various spaces and facilities and to information.
11.6. Academic tests assessing the competencies achieved will be adapted, where appropriate, in terms of timing, format and procedure for students with any type of disability or NESES, according to their particular needs, without this implying any change in the competencies or the level of achievement that the student must demonstrate in that subject.
See the document Guidelines for High-Performance Student Athletes (EAN).
13.2. The average grade for the studies completed will be the weighted average of the grades in the academic record. This weighted average will be calculated by multiplying the numerical value of each grade by the number of credits of the corresponding module. All the products will then be added together and the total divided by the number of credits of the corresponding program.
13.3. In accordance with Royal Decree 1044/2003, of August 1, and Royal Decree 1125/2003, of September 5, which partially amend Royal Decree 1267/1994, of June 10, the official academic certificate will also show the weighted average, calculated in the same way as in the previous section but using the following equivalences:
- Pass: 1
- Good: 2
- Excellent: 3
- Distinction (Matrícula de honor): 4
- Recognition: Recognized credits without a grade will not be taken into account for weighting purposes.
14.1. The master’s degree certificate may be requested by students who have passed all the credits in accordance with the curriculum and whose academic record status in SCALA or PortAL, once grades have been published (see the academic calendar), appears as “Closed and eligible for degree certificate.”
14.2. In the case of official inter-university graduate programs, the agreement signed for this purpose must specify which of the participating universities will be responsible for processing students’ records and for issuing and registering a single official joint graduate degree, or whether each university will issue the corresponding degree, in accordance with the established requirements.
14.3. The procedure for obtaining the degree certificate can be completed in two ways:
- 14.3.1. Online, through SCALA/PortAL. See the instructions manual at this link.
- 14.3.2. In person, at the Academic Secretary’s office of the center. When completing the procedure, the following documentation must be submitted:
- A photocopy of both sides of a valid ID card (expired documents are not accepted).
- A photocopy of the document certifying the qualification that gave access to the master’s degree.
- Payment of the fees for issuing the degree certificate.
14.4. Important: the date on which the degree certificate is processed, whether it is done in person or by self-service, will be the date of completion of studies that will appear on the final diploma/degree.
14.5. Once issued, the degree certificate must be collected in person by the student. If they are unable to do so, they may authorize another person, always by means of a notarized power of attorney, to collect it on their behalf (Official State Gazette (BOE) of July 13, 1988).
See the document Blanquerna Foundation Disciplinary Regime.

PhD
Official master’s and PhD programs make up the second and third cycles of university education; they are therefore training programs aimed at the academic, professional or research specialization of graduates. These programs are regulated in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, establishing the organization of official university education, Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2, amending it, and Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, on doctoral studies, subsequently amended by Royal Decree 534/2013, of July 12, Royal Decree 43/2015, of February 2, and by the latest amendment of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023, which consolidates the text.
PhD
The goal of PhD studies is to train high-level researchers by means of an in-depth study of methodologies, techniques and research skills. The PhD culminates in the preparation and submission of a doctoral thesis consisting of an original piece of research supervised by a PhD holder with accredited research experience. Successful completion of these studies will entitle the student to a PhD degree from Ramon Llull University, which represents the highest level of higher education.
Access to PhD studies requires, in general, holding an official bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and a university master's degree, or equivalent, provided that at least 300 ECTS credits have been passed in these two courses.
Introduction
1. Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, and subsequently Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2, and Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, as amended by Royal Decree 43/2015, of February 2, and by the latest amendment of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023, which consolidates the text, establish a new organization of the Spanish university education system based on a bachelor’s, master’s and PhD structure, on the path toward building a common European Higher Education Area (EHEA) for all European Union member states.
2. In short, these Royal Decrees establish the legal framework governing official master’s and PhD studies, which is intended to allow Spanish universities to design their own specialized and research training offerings flexibly and autonomously.
General conditions for enrollment in Blanquerna-URL FPCEE studies.
1.1. In general, in order to access an official PhD program it will be necessary to hold an official Spanish bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and a university master's degree.
1.2. Applicants who meet any of the following conditions may also be admitted:
- Holding official Spanish university degrees or equivalent Spanish degrees, provided that at least 300 ECTS credits have been passed in these studies as a whole, and certifying level 3 of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.
- Holding a degree obtained under a foreign education system within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), without the need for convalidation, that certifies level 7 of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education, provided that this degree gives access to doctoral studies in the country of issue.
- Holding a degree obtained under a foreign education system outside the EHEA, without the need for convalidation, once the university has verified that it certifies a level of education equivalent to that of the official Spanish university master’s degree and gives access to doctoral studies in the country where it was issued.
- Holding another PhD.
- University graduates who, after obtaining a place in the test for admission to specialized health training, have successfully completed at least two years' training in a program to obtain an official degree in one of the specialist areas of health sciences.
1.3. Each PhD program will establish the specific requirements for admission to the third cycle.
1.4. Once the student has been admitted, they must formalize the registration as a student of the corresponding PhD program. This registration will entitle the student to academic supervision, to use the resources provided by the School to undertake their work, and to enjoy all the participation rights that correspond to students in official graduate studies programs.
1.5. To apply for a place in a PhD program, applicants must submit the following documentation to the School’s Student Information and Orientation Service (SIOE), in addition to the required administrative documents (a photocopy of a valid ID card –expired documents are not accepted–, an academic record showing the grades for the courses taken and the average grade for the degree, and, for applicants whose qualifying studies were completed outside Spain, a certificate issued by the competent body certifying that those studies give access to doctoral studies in the country of issue):
- Letter of intent.
- Curriculum vitae.
- Optional documents that will have a favorable influence in the selection process:
- Letter of recommendation from a researcher with accredited research experience who belongs to a URL research group and who states their commitment to supervising or co-supervising the PhD thesis. Letter of recommendation from another PhD holder with accredited research experience.
- Accreditation of English level B2.1 or higher.
2.1. PhD studies, according to the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011 of July 18, 2023, are intended for the advanced training of the PhD student in research techniques and have a duration of four or seven years (see Article 3 of the Academic Regulations).
2.2. Successfully completing the program leads to the award of the PhD degree, which is the highest level of higher education and qualifies the student for teaching and research.
2.3. Students who wish to write their thesis in a PhD program at Blanquerna-URL FPCEE must submit their application to the corresponding Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) and follow the established admission process.
2.4. The candidate will acquire the status of PhD candidate once they have enrolled in the PhD program. This enrollment must be renewed annually.
2.5. Advisor. Once the candidate has been admitted to the PhD program, the corresponding ACDP will assign them an advisor from the PhD program. The committee may change the appointment of this advisor at the PhD student’s request at any time during the doctoral period, provided that justified reasons are given. To request a change of advisor, the PhD student must fill out a change of advisor request. The request must be accompanied by a file containing a letter from the parties involved, duly signed, supporting the request.
2.6. PhD Student Activities Document (DAD). This document records all the activities relevant to the PhD student’s training. The DAD will be reviewed regularly by the advisor and the thesis supervisor, and assessed annually by the ACDP.
2.7. Thesis supervisor. Once the PhD student has been admitted to the program, the ACDP will assign them a thesis supervisor, who may or may not be the same person as the advisor. To serve as a doctoral thesis supervisor, a person must hold a PhD and have research experience accredited by an external national or foreign agency (ANECA, AQU or others), or be a tenured or full professor at a Spanish university or hold an equivalent position at a foreign university.
2.8. In duly justified cases, the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) may authorize and assign one or more co-supervisors. The committee may change the appointment of the supervisor and, where applicable, co-supervisors, after receiving the PhD student’s proposal, at any time during the doctoral period, provided that justified reasons are given. To request a change of supervisor and/or co-supervisors, the PhD student must fill out a change of supervisor request. The request must be accompanied by a file containing a letter from the parties involved, duly signed, supporting the request.
2.9. Commitment document. Once the PhD student has been assigned a thesis supervisor, a written commitment (commitment document) is drawn up and signed by the chair of the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP), the PhD student, the advisor and the supervisor; it includes a conflict resolution procedure and covers intellectual and industrial property rights and confidentiality.
2.10. Research plan. Before the end of the first year, the PhD student will prepare a research plan that will include, as a minimum, the methodology to be used and the goals to be achieved, as well as the means and time schedule to achieve them. The research plan will be approved by the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP), may be improved and detailed throughout their tenure in the PhD program and must be endorsed by the advisor and the thesis supervisor (article 11.6 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, July 18, 2023).
2.11. Assessment of the training process.
Assessment until submission of the doctoral thesis: at the end of each academic year, the ACDP will assess the preparation (1st academic year) and implementation (subsequent academic years) of the research plan and the progress of the PhD student’s program of training activities established in the PhD program. The assessment instruments will be: in the first academic year, the minutes of the presentation and defense of the research plan before an examining board and a favorable report from the School’s Ethics and Research Committee on the ethical aspects of the plan; in subsequent academic years, the DAD and the report(s) of the thesis co-supervisor(s) and, where applicable, the advisor. The grade will be pass, fail or no-show. If the Academic Committee detects significant shortcomings, the PhD student must be reassessed within a maximum of six months. If the shortcomings persist, the Academic Committee must issue a reasoned report, after hearing the student concerned, and the PhD student will be permanently withdrawn from the program (article 11.7 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023).
For the first-year assessment, the PhD student must have completed the training program seminars by the time they submit the research plan. It will not be necessary in those cases in which the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) considers that the student has sufficient previous training.
3.1. The duration of doctoral studies (article 3.2 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023) is a maximum of four years full-time, counting from the date of the PhD student’s enrollment in the program to the date of submission of the doctoral thesis. However, with the prior authorization of the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP), PhD studies may be carried out on a part-time basis. In this case, these studies may have a maximum duration of seven years from the date of enrollment in the program to the date of submission of the PhD thesis.
To request part-time doctoral studies, the PhD student must fill out a request to pursue doctoral studies part-time. They must attach a file containing a duly signed report from the supervisor/advisor supporting the request.
3.2. Before the end of the deadlines mentioned in the previous section, if the application for submission of the thesis has not been filed, the Academic Committee responsible for the PhD program, upon request of the PhD student, may authorize the extension of this period for another year. To request an extension for the approval and defense of the doctoral thesis, the PhD student must fill out a request form. They must attach a file containing a duly signed report from the supervisor/advisor supporting the request.
For the purposes of calculating the above period, leaves of absence due to illness, pregnancy or any other cause provided for by the regulations in force will not be taken into account.
3.3. The PhD student may request a temporary leave of absence from the program for a total of up to two years. To request a temporary leave of absence, the PhD student must fill out a request form, giving the reasons for their request. The student must attach a file containing a letter from the supervisor/advisor, duly signed, supporting the application. The Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) will decide whether or not to grant the request. If the PhD student does not enroll in the period indicated to do so and has not requested a temporary withdrawal, it will be considered as a definitive withdrawal from the PhD Program.
4.1. Approval of the research plan. The topic of the doctoral thesis is the one set out in the research plan approved by the ACDP. To change the title or topic of the research plan, the PhD student must submit a reasoned request to the ACDP with the approval of the thesis supervisor.
To request a change of title or topic for their doctoral thesis, the PhD student must fill out a change of title or topic request. They must attach a file containing a duly signed report from the supervisor/advisor supporting the request.
4.2. Acceptance for processing and submission of the doctoral thesis:
4.2.1. Once the research has been completed, the PhD student will contact the PhD Secretary’s office to receive the relevant instructions for starting the submission process through the MAMBO application.
The submission process will be carried out in accordance with the Ramon Llull University instructions for processing a doctoral thesis. The required documentation is available at the following link.
To start the thesis submission process, it is necessary to be enrolled in the PhD program. If the doctoral thesis is submitted to the PhD Secretary’s office after September 30, the student must complete enrollment and pay the fee for the corresponding academic year.
- 4.2.2. The thesis may be written and, where appropriate, defended in the languages customarily used for scientific communication in its field of knowledge (article 13.4 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023). The writing style and formal aspects must comply with the General Rules for the Organization of Doctoral Studies at the URL.
- 4.2.3. The ACDP, the URL PhD Commission and, finally, the examining board that assesses the thesis must have access to the DAD. The DAD must reflect the training activities carried out by the PhD student in accordance with the objectives set out in the training program and must be assessed positively by the ACDP. This monitoring document does not give rise to a quantitative score, but it is a qualitative assessment instrument that complements the assessment of the doctoral thesis (article 14.3 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023).
- 4.2.4. When proposing a date for the thesis defense, the PhD student and the supervisor must allow a minimum of approximately three months from the date on which the thesis was submitted to the PhD Secretary’s office through the MAMBO application. This period may be extended if corrections have to be made as a result of the review process.
4.2.5. Thesis examining board. The Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP), at the proposal of the coordinator of the PhD program, will designate the examining board to judge the PhD thesis, made up of three full members and two alternate members. No more than one of the full members may be a professor from the URL or from the institutions collaborating in the program. In any case, all three must be linked to different universities. Likewise, no more than one of the alternate members may be a professor from the URL or from collaborating institutions. Under no circumstances may the supervisor, co-supervisor or advisor be members of the examining board. The members of the examining board assessing a thesis must hold a PhD and have accredited research experience (article 14.2 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023) or must be accredited professors at a public university or hold an equivalent position at a foreign university; they must certify their research experience with their civil servant number if they are tenured or full professors at a public university, with their research accreditation number if they are professors at a private university, or with their CV if they are professionals. After studying the research and innovation merits, the PhD Commission of Ramon Llull University may accredit a PhD of recognized prestige in the field of the thesis in order to form part of the examining board.
When the PhD student applies for the international mention in the PhD degree (see article 5 of the Academic Regulations), Blanquerna-URL FPCEE will cover the travel expenses of the examining board member from a non-Spanish research institution. When the PhD student does not apply for this mention and a member of the examining board comes from a non-Spanish research institution, the School will cover the expenses subject to the annual budget of the Office of the Vice Dean for Research, Transfer, PhD Studies and International Relations.
- 4.2.6. Preliminary reports. A minimum of three experts—who may be members of the examining board proposed to assess the thesis and who must in any case meet the same conditions established for board members—will prepare a report prior to the defense. Each report will be signed by the expert who prepared it and submitted to the URL PhD Commission when the final reading and defense procedures are processed. Unanimity in the positive assessment of these reports will be necessary in order to initiate the procedures that will lead to the defense.
- 4.2.7. After passing this procedure, the PhD Secretary's Office will send a copy of the thesis to the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP), together with the previous evaluation reports and the rest of the documentation. According to the evaluation reports received, the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) will assess the need to request modifications to the thesis before its approval. In this case, the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) will send the PhD student the comments of the reports, anonymized. Where appropriate, the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) will notify the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission of the suitability of the PhD thesis in order to proceed with the submission process.
4.2.8. The PhD student will deliver to the PhD Secretary's Office a final copy of the thesis, which must bear the Ramon Llull University cover page. It must be the same document as the one deposited in TDX.
The writing style and formal aspects must comply with the General Rules for the Organization of Doctoral Studies at the URL.
- 4.2.9. The URL PhD Commission will accept the thesis for processing, where appropriate, and will place it on deposit for 19 calendar days from the day after the meeting, ensuring that it is publicized on the School’s notice board and the URL website so that any PhD holders who wish to do so may submit their observations (article 13.3 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023). If the thesis is not accepted for processing, the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission will inform the PhD student, the thesis supervisor, the advisor and the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) in writing of the reasons for its decision. The PhD student will have a period of one week from the date of notification to file an appeal addressed to the President of the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission. Once the submission time has elapsed, the PhD Commission of the University will take into account the considerations received and have previously consulted the specialists it deems appropriate, before deciding whether or not to authorize the defense. If not, the PhD Commission of the University must communicate in writing to the PhD student, the supervisor, the advisor (if applicable) and the person in charge of the PhD programs the reasons for its decision.
- 4.2.10. If the thesis defense is authorized, the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission will communicate it in writing to the PhD student, the supervisor, the advisor (if applicable) and the coordinator of the PhD programs. It will also appoint the thesis examining board and designate the president and the secretary from among its members. In the event of resignation for justified cause of a member of the examining board, the president will replace him/her with the corresponding alternate.
- 4.2.11. The official appointment of the examining board will be made, where appropriate, during the five days following the end of the submission period.
- 4.2.12. Once a doctoral thesis has been accepted for processing, it must be defended within a maximum of six months from the day after the end of the deposit period.
4.3. Reading and defense of the thesis
- 4.3.1. The defense ceremony will be called by the president and communicated by the secretary to the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission at least 15 calendar days prior to its presentation.
- 4.3.2. The doctoral thesis will be assessed at the defense, which will be held in a public session. At the defense, the PhD student will present and defend their research before the members of the examining board. The members of the examining board must express their opinion and raise questions and observations, to which the PhD student must respond. PhD holders attending the public defense may ask questions at the time and in the manner indicated by the president of the examining board (article 14.4 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023). In exceptional circumstances, as determined by the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP), additional measures to protect confidentiality may be implemented during the oral defense, to be announced by the examining board’s president at the beginning of the defense.
- 4.3.3. The examining board must issue a report on the defense and award the thesis an overall grade of fail, pass, good or excellent. The examining board may award the cum laude distinction if the overall grade is excellent and a unanimous positive secret vote is cast to that effect (article 11 of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023). The center’s PhD Secretary’s office will count the secret vote on awarding the cum laude distinction in a session separate from the defense. If the distinction is awarded, it will issue the corresponding document, which will be attached to the official degree record so that the PhD degree certificate can be processed with this distinction.
- 4.3.4. The Vice-Rectorate responsible for doctoral studies will notify the student concerned in writing of the examining board’s final decision, with a copy to the thesis supervisor and co-supervisors. The PhD degree certificate may include the international doctorate mention on the front, provided that the circumstances described in article 15 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023, are met; these are set out in the URL regulations on the international mention in the PhD degree, which can be found in the document General Rules for the Organization of Doctoral Studies at the URL.
- 4.3.5. After the PhD thesis has been defended, Ramon Llull University will file it in open electronic format in an institutional repository and will send, in electronic format and for the appropriate purposes, a copy with all the necessary complementary information to the Ministry of Education. In exceptional cases, the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission will determine the possibility of publishing partial records to protect confidential aspects.
5.1. The international doctorate awarded by the URL complements this university’s officially recognized PhD degree. Under article 15 of the consolidated text of Royal Decree 99/2011, of July 18, 2023, the “international doctorate” mention may be included on the front of the PhD degree certificate, provided that the following conditions are met:
- 5.1.1. During the training period required to obtain the PhD degree, the PhD student must have spent a minimum of three months outside Spain in a prestigious higher education institution or research center, studying or carrying out research work.
- 5.1.1.1. The international placement and activities must be endorsed by the supervisor and authorized by the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP), and must be included in the Document of PhD student activities (DAD).
- 5.1.1.2. In order to request the authorization of the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP), the PhD student must complete this international placement request. A file containing a letter from the supervisor/advisor, duly signed, supporting the request, as well as a document accrediting the institution’s acceptance of the placement must be attached.
- 5.1.2. Part of the PhD thesis, at least the abstract and conclusions, must have been written and presented in one of the usual languages for scientific communication in the field of knowledge, different from any of the official languages in Spain. This rule does not apply when the stays, reports and experts come from a Spanish-speaking country.
- 5.1.3. At least two PhD experts belonging to a non-Spanish higher education institution or research institute must have issued a report on the thesis.
- 5.1.4. At least one expert belonging to a non-Spanish higher education institution or research center, with the title of PhD, and different from the person responsible for the stay in section 5.1.1, must have been part of the thesis examining board.
The defense must take place at the Spanish university where the PhD student is enrolled or, in the case of joint PhD programs, at any of the participating universities or as set out in the collaboration agreements.
At the time the thesis submission process begins, the candidate must submit an original document certifying the completion of the international stay. This document must be issued by the host institution and cover the minimum period established in section 5.1.1.
6.1. A PhD thesis by compendium of publications will consist of a minimum of three articles on the same line of research.
6.2. Only articles published by the PhD student in scientific journals indexed in Web of Science Core Collection (SSCI/AHCI), Journal Citation Reports (JCR), Scopus, and SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) will be accepted.
6.3. Affiliation with Ramon Llull University, Blanquerna School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences, must be stated.
6.4. Only articles published, or accepted for publication, after the PhD student’s first enrollment in doctoral studies will be accepted. Exceptionally, the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) may accept an article published during the university master’s degree. The PhD student and their thesis supervisor must justify its inclusion in the formal application to be submitted to the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) six months before the thesis is deposited (article 6.9. of these regulations).
6.5. Co-authors of published articles must provide written consent for the use of the article as part of the PhD student’s thesis.
6.6. Co-authors of published articles will not serve on the thesis examining board.
6.7. Co-authors who do not hold a PhD degree must waive in writing the right to use the article in another thesis. The Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) may consider justified exceptions to this rule, such as when the published articles involve multiple research teams and are approved by the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission.
6.8. The thesis will comprise a general introduction presenting the published work, a justification of the subject unit and the specific contribution of the PhD student, a copy of each published paper, an overall summary of the results, its discussion and the final conclusions.
6.9. A PhD student who wishes to submit a doctoral thesis by compendium of publications must always submit a formal application to the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) before depositing the thesis. The ACDP will ensure the quality of the publications to be included in the thesis and will approve the articles and journals submitted. This application must include a report from the supervisor detailing the specific contributions of the PhD student and any co-authors to the work presented, if applicable. Additionally, at the time of the ordinary processing of the thesis, the student must submit the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) approval certificate and the acceptance document from the co-authors of the articles to be used in the thesis to the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission. If there are any changes to the provisional publication plan, a request must be submitted to the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) with the supervisor's authorization.
6.10. Consequently, the procedure for submitting a doctoral thesis by compendium of publications will be as follows:
- Fill out an application for a doctoral thesis by compendium of publications.
- The application must be accompanied by:
- The authorization of the supervisor and the co-authors.
- A file containing a report from the supervisor, duly signed, indicating the specific contribution of the PhD student to the work presented and that of the other authors.
7.1. The objective of these regulations is to promote and develop scientific collaboration within the framework of PhD studies between Ramon Llull University and other universities, and to facilitate the mobility of PhD students.
- 7.1.1. Admission requirements:
- Students must have the PhD entrance qualification required by the legislation in force at the university or center where the degree was issued.
- Students must follow the usual steps for admission to a PhD program at Ramon Llull University.
- 7.1.2. Procedural requirements:

- The Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) will submit the agreement proposals to the rector, after notifying the Technical Secretariat of the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission. The two or more universities will sign a co-supervision agreement specifying:
- The PhD student will be assigned a thesis supervisor in each of the universities.
- The thesis will be registered at both (or more) universities, but the fees for issuing the degree will only be paid in one.
- The examining board in charge of judging the thesis will be established by mutual agreement between the universities.
- There will be a single thesis defense at one of the universities; the regulations of the university where it is defended will apply, and the examining board will be agreed upon between the two (or more) universities. In the event that the supervisors must be part of the examining board, the board will consist of at least six members and its composition will always adhere to the minimum requirements established by the legal framework of the country/university where the thesis is defended.
- A verbatim copy of the PhD degree record will be sent to the other participating university (or universities).
- The protection of the thesis topic and of the exploitation and publication rights of the results will be guaranteed in accordance with the specific provisions of each country.

9.2. The awarding of the extraordinary award will be recorded in the student's academic record and on the PhD degree.
9.3. The Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) will decide on the awarding of the prizes during the month of July, and the awards will be presented in a public ceremony starting in September of the following academic year.
9.4. For each program, the Academic Committee of the PhD Program (ACDP) will appoint an examining board made up of three professors, which will be in charge of assessing and determining which of the program’s theses deserves the award.
None of the members of the examining board may have served as a supervisor for any of the theses submitted for assessment.
9.5. The examining boards will meet during the first two weeks of September and will consider PhD theses defended before August 31.
9.6. For the examining board to decide on the award, there must be a minimum of five PhD theses defended in the program during that academic year or accumulated from previous years up to August 31. PhD theses can only be considered for the award on a single occasion.
9.7. The examining board may only award the prize to a thesis that has been awarded the cum laude distinction and has received the unanimous positive recommendation of the examining board that assessed it; this recommendation must be documented in a specific certificate. The award may not be awarded if these conditions are not met.
9.8. The examining board will decide which thesis deserves the extraordinary award, provide written reasons for their decision, and make the corresponding proposal to the Dean's Team for approval and communication to the Ramon Llull University PhD Commission. The PhD Commission will make the final approval of the extraordinary PhD awards for each academic year and may reject the proposal only if some formal or procedural aspect is not complied with.
9.9. The Ramon Llull University PhD Commission will draft the minutes of the awarding of the prizes jointly for the entire University.
9.10. The Ramon Llull University PhD Commission will receive possible claims within a maximum period of three months from its resolution and may provide an explanation of the reasons for which a particular extraordinary award has been granted.

APPENDIX 2: LINKS TO REQUEST FORMS
Own degrees
Overview
OWN DEGREES
Blanquerna-URL FPCEE delivers these own degree programs with the same rigor and excellence as the official studies it offers, in order to provide students with a rich, career-focused experience.
1.1. The School’s own degrees comprise the following:
- Master’s degrees: they have a minimum of 60 ECTS and a maximum of 120 ECTS. They are characterized by having teaching plans defined in the ECTS system and a mandatory master's thesis to obtain the degree. In the case of access through a university degree, a master's degree is obtained; in the case of access without a university degree, a university extension diploma is obtained.
- University specialization diplomas: they have a minimum of 30 ECTS and a maximum of 59 ECTS. They share the same characteristics as master's degrees. While it is recommended, it is not obligatory for the degree to include a master's thesis. When accessed through a university degree, the title of university specialization diploma is obtained; in the case of access without a university degree, a university extension diploma is obtained.
- University expert diploma: they have a minimum of 15 ECTS and a maximum of 29 ECTS. When accessed through a university degree, the title of university expert diploma is obtained; in the case of access without a degree, a university extension certificate is obtained.
It should be taken into account that the university's own master's degrees do not give access to PhDs.
1.2. Each year Blanquerna-URL FPCEE publishes the graduate studies training proposal to be undertaken during the following academic year. Once a graduate studies course has been taught, the School reserves the right not to repeat it during the following academic year or to make any modifications it deems necessary to guarantee its quality.
According to the regulations laid down by Ramon Llull University, to access graduate studies, it is necessary to:
- Hold an official Spanish university degree (including university diplomas, engineering degrees, etc. prior to the implementation of the EHEA).
- Possess a university degree that, in the student's country of origin, grants access to graduate studies.
In the event that a student who does not hold a university degree wishes to undertake these studies, they may also access them. However, upon completion, they will obtain the accreditation document referred to in point 1.1.
The process of applying for a place in an own degree program consists of three steps: pre-enrollment, admission and enrollment.
3.1. To pre-enroll, candidates must go to the own degree’s page on the School’s website and click the “Enrollment online” button.
- 3.1.1. Then, the candidate must fill in the personal data requested and upload a photocopy of their national ID card, passport or foreign resident's ID (an expired document is not valid) and their CV. For some specific courses, other documents must be attached.
3.1.2. The pre-enrollment process ends with the payment of the pre-enrollment fees (50 €).
The pre-enrollment process can also be conducted in person at the Blanquerna FPCEE Student Information and Orientation Service (SIOE).
3.2. For admission to an own degree, the approval of the coordinator is required and all the requested documentation must have been submitted. Thus, once the pre-enrollment is completed, the candidate will be offered a date for an interview with the coordinator, who will assess their suitability and resolve any queries about the course to which they are applying. Once the assessment is finished, the student will be informed of the result of the interview and, if applicable, of the enrollment procedures.
Before enrolling, the candidate must upload their degree certificate, or the receipt for it, for the university studies completed to the document repository. If these documents are not available, the course may be taken but the degree will not be awarded and a certificate/diploma of university extension will be obtained instead.
General conditions for enrollment in Blanquerna-URL FPCEE studies.
4.1. Once the above documentation has been assessed, and when there is a large enough group of pre-enrolled students, each candidate will receive confirmation and the necessary information to be able to enroll. Enrollment implies obtaining a definitive place and will take effect within the deadlines indicated in the confirmation e-mail.
4.2. When students enroll, they will have two business days to pay the total cost of enrollment, by bank transfer, credit card or barcode. Tuition may be paid in interest-free installments by direct debit.
4.3. The total tuition fee for an academic year will be calculated according to the corresponding number of credits. Prices may be updated each academic year.
4.4. Enrollment is for the entire academic year, and partial enrollment is not permitted, except in justified cases involving longer master’s degrees. In these cases, the student must fill out an open application.
4.5. Blanquerna-URL FPCEE does not commit to offering courses that do not reach the minimum number of required applications. In such instances, the pre-enrollment fee will be refunded in full.
4.6. Once the enrollment has been formalized, no changes can be made and the amount paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
4.7. Pre-enrollment and enrollment may remain open up to 15 days before the start of the course, provided places are available.
Own degrees do not provide for the recognition of credits obtained in previously completed degrees. Exceptions, where applicable, will be reflected in the course information.
6.1. If a student decides not to continue their studies and to withdraw from the center during the academic year in which they are enrolled, they must submit a withdrawal request, duly signed, to the Academic Secretary’s office of the School. Once the request has been received, the student’s academic record will be closed and no further grades may be entered.
6.2. Furthermore, as of the date of the withdrawal request, the School will stop issuing any remaining installment bills for the rest of the academic year.
6.3. Continuation of studies. Students who wish to resume their studies in subsequent academic years after withdrawing or dropping out must fill out an application for continuation of studies during the application period.
- 6.3.1. If the application is submitted in the middle of an academic year, the acceptance will always be understood to be for the beginning of the following academic year.
- 6.3.2. If students have bills pending, they will not be able to re-enter the School until they are paid.
In the event that the degree requires internships, each degree will regulate the conditions in order to adapt them to its specific needs.
The assessment of the student's progress will be based on the competencies that are worked on and that comprise the curriculum of each degree.
8.1. General regulations
A distinction (matrícula d’honor, MH) may be awarded to students who have obtained a grade of 9.0 or higher, provided that distinctions do not exceed 5% of the students, unless there are fewer than 20 students; in which case, only one may be awarded.
- 8.1.1. Students have the right to know which evaluation criteria will be applied to evaluate the degree.
- 8.1.2. The faculty must keep evaluation evidence throughout two academic years, and, in the case of an appeal, until the appeal has been resolved.
- 8.1.3. Students have the right to see the result and the criteria for correcting the assessment, and to receive advice from the professor responsible, in order to improve academic performance.
- 8.1.4. The faculty will communicate the provisional grades to the student and will facilitate the revision.
- 8.1.5. A course that has been passed cannot be re-assessed.
8.2. If, in the opinion of the faculty in charge, a student does not pass certain competencies of a course in the first exam, the student may recover it in the second exam of the same academic year if so provided for in the teaching plan of each degree.
8.3. If a course is not passed in any of the sittings in the course in which the student has been enrolled, they must re-enroll in the course the following year by paying the corresponding amount of credits. In the event that a course is not offered, the School will set up a system of advisors to follow the course in question.
8.4. Fraudulent conduct of any assessment test will result in the student failing the course (0.0) in that academic year.
8.5. Assessment sittings. Students are entitled to two assessment sittings during the same academic year or whatever is established in the teaching plan of each degree.
8.6. Regulations for extraordinary assessment processes.
- 8.6.1. Students may request a review of the final grade for a course within a maximum period of seven working days after the date on which grades were announced, if they disagree with the grade given.
- 8.6.1.a. The student must complete a final grade review request, stating the reasons. The request must be addressed to the professor and submitted to the Own Degrees Office. The professor must respond in writing within no more than seven business days,6 and send the response to the Own Degrees Office to be forwarded to the student.
- 8.6.1.b. If the review leads to a change in the grade, the official record must be changed.
- 8.6.2. In case the disagreement on the final grade of the course is upheld, the student has seven working days after the date on which the response of the faculty member is communicated to contact the coordinator of the own degree program.
Study certificates can be requested at the School's Academic Secretary's office, where the student's academic record is kept. They will be delivered within ten to fifteen days after the request is made. To collect them, students must have paid the corresponding fees.
10.1. The own degree certificate may be requested by students who have passed all the course credits, as well as the corresponding seminars, in accordance with the curriculum, and whose academic record status in SCALA or PortAL, once grades have been published (see the academic calendar), appears as “Closed and eligible for degree certificate.”
10.2. The procedure for obtaining the degree certificate can be completed in two ways:
- 10.2.1. Online, through SCALA/PortAL. See the instructions manual at this link.
- 10.2.2. In person, at the Academic Secretary’s office of the center. At the time of the proceedings, the fees for the issuing of certificates must be paid and the following documentation must be submitted:
- A photocopy of both sides of a valid ID card (expired documents are not accepted).
- A photocopy of the document accrediting the access route on both sides (degree, diploma or bachelor's degree).
10.3. The School's Academic Secretary's office will officially submit the documentation for the processing of the degree at Ramon Llull University.
10.4. Once issued, the degree certificate must be collected in person by the student or, if they are unable to do so, by another duly authorized person; for students living outside the country, a postal procedure will be made available.
6 Teaching days, Monday to Friday. Vacation periods will not count as business days in these cases. Cases involving second sittings may be resolved in September.
10.6. In the case of inter-university programs, the agreement signed for the program will specify which of the universities participating in the graduate studies program will be responsible for processing students' records, as well as issuing and recording a single joint graduate studies degree.
These regulations apply to all own degree programs offered by Blanquerna-URL FPCEE.
In the case of own degree studies carried out in collaborating centers, articles 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8.6 will be governed by the regulations of the centers where the courses are taught.
