What is the Blanquerna methodology?

The Blanquerna methodology is the result of a distinctive and well-established pedagogical approach that has made the institution a benchmark for its way of understanding university learning: personalized, relational, experiential, and connected to professional and social reality.

Since its beginnings, Blanquerna has been committed to education centered on the person and on learning with others, connected to professional reality and to the social needs of its environment. That is why the methodology combines personalized guidance and work in small groups (BQN15 Seminars), professionalizing experiences (simulations), learning situated in social contexts (service learning), and the connection between disciplines, courses, degrees, and professions (Nexus).

BQN15 Seminars

Learning in a small group means having a voice, feeling supported, and growing with others.

Small-group seminars —such as the BQN 15 model— make it possible to provide close guidance, spaces for conversation, shared work, and more personalized attention. This format helps us get to know each student better: their interests, their progress, and their way of learning.

Professional Simulations

To prepare for a profession, students need to experience it from day one.

At Blanquerna, competencies are not only studied; they are put into practice through simulations, case studies, and challenges that recreate situations specific to each profession.

In the health sciences, students work with realistic clinical scenarios using high-fidelity mannequins, standardized patients, and virtual environments. They also take OSCEs —Objective Structured Clinical Examinations— to assess technical, communication, and decision-making skills in an integrated way.

The goal is for students to learn how to act safely and confidently when facing situations similar to those they will encounter in their future careers.

Service Learning

Learning also means putting knowledge at the service of people.

Training also means understanding the reality around us. That is why Blanquerna promotes learning experiences linked to real social needs, such as Service Learning projects. Students apply what they learn in community contexts, in collaboration with institutions and organizations, and discover the social meaning of their future profession.

NEXUS

The professional future will be collaborative. Learning should be, too.

Today’s challenges cannot be solved from a single perspective. That is why Blanquerna promotes learning that connects disciplines, courses, professions, and generations.
