They culminate the evaluation process initiated after the positive verification by the Agency for the Quality of the University System of Catalonia (AQU Catalunya).
The University Council has favorably resolved the study plan for the Medicine degree presented by Blanquerna-URL. This resolution is a new step toward the Medicine degree at Blanquerna-URL, which will begin in the 2026-2027 academic year, and a major milestone that consolidates the commitment of Ramon Llull University (URL) to training excellent health professionals.
This degree represents a bold and strategic initiative by URL, spearheaded by the Blanquerna-URL School of Health Sciences, in close, dedicated, and cohesive collaboration with IQS, La Salle, Esade, the Borja Institute of Bioethics, and the Vidal i Barraquer University Institute of Mental Health, all integral components of Ramon Llull University.
The project has the full support and commitment of a leading hospital network in Spain, including the Quirónsalud group (Quirónsalud Barcelona Hospital, El Pilar Hospital, and Quirónsalud Badalona Hospital);Fundació Hospitalàries (Barcelona, Barcelona North, Martorell, and Sant Boi); the Germanes Hospitalàries Research Foundation (FIDMAG); and primary care centers CAP Vallcarca, CAP Sant Gervasi, and EAP Derecha del Eixample - CAP Roger de Flor.
The degree is designed to provide comprehensive training based on values, knowledge, and skills, combining the latest technological and scientific advances with a humanistic approach, and incorporating the NEXUS methodology for teaching innovation, which has already been successfully implemented in the centers of the Blanquerna Foundation. This degree commits to training new doctors who stand out for their academic and human excellence, centered on three axes: high scientific and technological knowledge (high-tech), solid humanistic training and maximum care in the doctor-patient relationship (high touch), and a strong commitment to comprehensive care for the person and their health throughout life (high commitment).
In addition, it incorporates the NEXUS methodology for teaching innovation, already successfully implemented in the centers of the Blanquerna Foundation, which integrates interdisciplinary learning, collaborative work, and the development of professional skills from the first year.
With the incorporation of this new degree in the 2026-2027 academic year, the Blanquerna-URL School of Health Sciences expands its current offerings–Nursing, Physiotherapy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Pharmacy (IQS-Blanquerna), and Health Engineering (La Salle-Blanquerna)–and consolidates itself, with more than thirty-three years of history, as a benchmark in university training in the health field.
