With children, food balance first!
On February 6, Professor Glòria Gómez took part in the Ràdio Estel morning show, where she talked about nutrition and sport in children and adolescents.
The professor of the Bachelor's Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics highlighted the importance of nutrition, not only for sports performance, but for health in general. She considered that we should think of "food" and not "diet", which has more restrictive connotations.
She also pointed out that for children, a balanced diet is the most important, and the main meals should contain the main recommended food groups: vegetables, tubers and farinaceous foods, and meats. This is in contrast to adults, where it is customary to adapt one's diet to sporting activity.
Don't miss the full interview in the podcast. You can find it on the Ràdio Estel website.
