The new European legal framework and the Spanish State through the Organic Law on Universities (LOU) establish that universities have to guarantee in their actions the fulfillment of the objectives associated to the studies they offer and pursue, in addition, their continuous improvement. As a result, universities have to have policies, formally implemented and publicly known, that guarantee internal quality.
With this aim, the Faculty has produced an Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC), positively appraised by the Agency for the Quality of the University System in Catalonia, after being assessed in the framework of the AUDIT programme, which shows that it complies with directives established in this programme.
The general objectives of the SGIC are:
(a) To establish policies and strategies to improve quality and academic, teaching and researching innovation at the FPCEEB, as well as in their administration and student support services, and to implement efficient systems of internal quality assurance that shall be eventually subject to assessment and audit by the corresponding assessment agencies.
(b) To consolidate internal control and assessment systems following formulae based on commitment and social responsibility.
(c) To create those conditions needed for accreditation.
With the aim of having a board that guides and leads the changes needed to revise and redesign both policies and strategies aimed at quality and excellence, the Faculty has created the corresponding Quality Office (QO).
