Blanquerna-URL is a non profit organisation which receives no public money as required by law. Nevertheless, one part of its income is allocated to provide subsidies in various forms.
Blanquerna-URL allocates some money to provide subsidies for first time students in one of the degrees taught of the Blanquerna Schools. These subsidies help to pay for part of the course. Students who receive such subsidies may renew them each academic year as long as they fulfil the established criteria. This subsidy gives a discount on the monthly payments that students must pay from October. This subsidy does not cover the cost charged at enrolment.
Blanquerna-URL subsidies are compatible with other grants or public and/or private subsidies, unless otherwise stated.
1. Students will be able to get an application form from the Student Information Desk (SIOE Servei d’Informació i Orientació a l’Estudiant), at the secretary’s office of the premises where they will be studying or from the webpage of Fundació Blanquerna (PDF Format).Application form.
2. The application form may be handed in at the SIOE or at the secretary’s office within the dates which will be made public on the notice board of each teaching centre.
3. All students are recommended to ask for an interview in order to evaluate the circumstances of each case. The interview can be arranged when you hand in your application form. If you do not ask for an appointment, the Grants and Economic Help department may ask for more documentation and will contact the prospective students for a final assessment interview.
4. The Economic Subsidy Commission will evaluate all applications and decide which students will receive economic help. Each student will receive the final decision by e-mail and ordinary mail in the first half of October. The decision will be irrevocable. In the event that a student should need to add further information after the interview, they should fill in an application form and send it to the SAE commission through the SIOE or the school secretary’s office before 11th October 2018.
Note: Applications outside the deadline will not be accepted
Economic, social and academic criteria are applied to decide who will receive economic help. In the assessment of the situation, a few aspects are taken into consideration: income of the family unit, number of family members, health and work stability related issues, possible external back-up, academic results, etc.
Renewal of economic help
In order to renew the economic help received from Fundació Blanquerna, students should obtain more than 80% of the credits they enrolled for the previous academic year and the circumstances for which the grant was given initially remain unchanged.
Special Economic Help
Fundació Blanquerna also offers special one off subsidies for students in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th levels whose family is experiencing financial difficulties to the point that they may not be able to continue their studies. At any time in the academic year, students in these circumstances can contact the Servei d’Ajuts Econòmics. This can be done directly or via SIOE or the secretary’s office of the centre where they are studying.
Students will be asked to fill in a form and address it to the Servei d’Ajuts Econòmics to be handed in at the centre of study explaining the reasons for their request. There will be an interview, and once the situation has been assessed by the relevant commission, the student will be informed of the outcome by mail.
Note: this type of subsidy is subject to the type of difficult situation that the student may be going through. This economic help will translate into a discount in the monthly payments as from the date of a favourable decision and until the end of the academic year. This subsidy is not renewable
Criteria for the assessment of the subsidy
Note:The fact that students follow the previously mentioned points does not guarantee a grant from Fundació Blanquerna.
