Professor Eva Comas, Pyrenees Narrative Literary Award
Professor of Language and Communication of Blanquerna FCRI, Eva Comas, won the last edition of the Pyrenees narrative literary award with the story "The serpent of fire".
The story is set in the valleys of Alt Urgell in the early twentieth century when the population of Organyà learns that its parish has the custody of one of the oldest documents originally written in Catalan. In this atmosphere of surprise, a young girl finds the discoverer of the manuscript, Joaquim Miret i Sans, resting on the bank of a river and decides to tell him her own story. This is the starting point of the story, written in first person as a monologue.
The awards ceremony took place in the Church of Santa Maria de Organyà coinciding with the 19th Book Fair in the Pyrenees held in this town of Alt Urgell.
The prize, awarded by the City of Organyà, consists of the amount of 1,200 euros and the publication of the story. In fact, the same Saturday of the award ceremony, the book containing the both "The serpent of fire" and the award-winning story by Marta Font Rollan was presented.
