The main objective of the Anatomy Centre/Osteoteque is for students to complement and improve their knowledge of the theories and practice related to anatomy and the locomotive system, using anatomic models and real bone structures.
This is an interactive anatomic visualisation table, one of the latest educational tools in the Medical field which facilitates the teaching of human anatomy on a real scale and in 3D. The table shows a normal-size human body and can be turned with the use of a finger, as can a perpendicular or longitudinal cut at any level while the organs and tissues involved are visible. The tool also allows for the choosing of the type of anatomic system, whether this is skeletal, muscular, vascular, the nervous system or a combination of these, with the added value that it facilitates the further viewing and study of models of pathologies and surgical interventions.
In the osteoteque, the student can enhance his/her knowledge of theory and practice:
The Physiology Laboratory of the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Health Science supports research and teaching in different fields related to health care. In the field of health care, the area and its equipment are currently used for doctoral projects and thesis. In the teaching field, there is neuromuscular physiology practice and analysis of movement for master’s and postgraduate students, and involving biomechanics and general physiology for degree students.
The laboratory currently offers three packages:
- Electromyography wireless: 4 canals o Goniometer with two angles (for example flexo‐extension and abd‐add, but not rotations)
- Electrocardiogram 3 derivations
- Generator of electric stimuli
- Nomogram with respiratory facility
- Evoked potential
- General recording module which allows for the recording of a biological sign from other equipment
- Spirometer SIBEL (connected via the general recording module)
Head technician: Dr. Ferran Rey Abella
Head scientist: Dra. Núria Massó Ortigosa
The School has rooms with the necessary material to recreate scenarios reflecting the clinical context which allow the student to gain a series of knowledge, skills and attitudes which enable him/her to acquire similar practice and develop real care skills.
The computer rooms have computers Connected to the network, printers, multimedia systems and all systems are connected to internet. The faculty also has a Wi-Fi network throughout the building. When there are no classes, the computer rooms can be used for students’ own work and there is always a technician present to deal with technical problems or students’ needs.
From Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 21.30 and Saturdays from 8.30 to 14.30.
The cooking laboratory is in a room which offers cookers, ovens, microwaves, cookery robot, dishwasher, fridges and cooking accessories and implements.
In this laboratory there are mall workshops involving small groups of students aimed at identifying and working on home cooking methods and nutritional practice related to Dietetics and Diet therapy.
