Students participate in a simulation of the Permanent Court of Arbitration

December 18, 2014

Students in the course Seminar III: Introduction to International Relations - of Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations - simulated a hearing of the Permanent Court of Arbitration.

During this semester, students conducted a series of visits to different actors involved in decision-making processes at the international level: NGOs, consulates, multinational companies. In this final debate, students tested the knowledge they had acquired on these visits.

At the hearing, such hot topics as the disputes and challenges of migration in the Mediterranean were discussed.

The Court, chaired by Professor Elisenda Calvet, was attended by Lurdes Vidal, head of research at the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMED), and Professor Montse Arbós.

Here you can see the video of last year’s simulation. Students played the roles of certain profiles in the institutions they represented, acquiring priorities and diplomatic tactics as their own.
