FAHRENHEIT: Research group on the control and limits of media representation


The objective of this film, game and new media studies research group is to study the various forms of ideological, political, religious and other types of control on audiovisual media in the widest sense of the term, in other words, cinema, television, video games and new media. The research topics have a common core, which is the control and limits of media representation as seen from the following different perspectives: media history and contemporary analysis, the language and narrative of audiovisual content, the relationship between the limits of the representations and the social and cultural context in which they are produced and received, institutional means of control, such as legal forms of censorship or self-censorship, the relationship between hegemonic culture, popular culture and media control, and, finally, the classic and postmodern manifestations of critical culture found in humor.
