Miquel Àngel Prats receives the Jaume Vicens Vives distinction from the Generalitat for his career in educational innovation

The Government of Catalonia has awarded Dr. Miquel Àngel Prats, professor of Educational Technology at the Blanquerna-URL School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences, one of the 2026 Jaume Vicens Vives distinctions, which recognize excellence in university teaching in Catalonia.

The Generalitat recognizes Prats for his work in the pedagogical transformation of the education system, a career closely linked to educational innovation, technology, and teacher training.

A teacher and educational psychologist with a PhD in Pedagogy from Blanquerna-URL, Prats is a professor of Educational Technology and lead researcher of the eduTIC research line in the School’s PSiTIC (Pedagogy, Society, Innovation and ICT) research group. Throughout his career, he has combined university teaching and research with outreach work and involvement in initiatives related to educational innovation and transformation.

The Jaume Vicens Vives distinction thus highlights a career dedicated to rethinking education in the face of technological and social change, one that places pedagogy and educational judgment at the heart of bringing technology into the classroom.

This year, the Government has awarded six distinctions: three to individuals and three to groups. In addition to Miquel Àngel Prats, Amalia Creus Quinteros, from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and Cristina Petreñas, from the Universitat de Lleida, have been individually recognized.

The awards will be presented on October 2, during the official opening ceremony of the 2026-2027 academic year of the Catalan university system, which will take place at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
