Manel Alias and Francesc Vendrell winners of the Blanquerna 2022 Awards!
We are delighted to announce the winners of the School of Communication and International Relations Blanquerna Awards 2022!
The award presented by the School for over 25 years, based on votes from the entire School community, for the first time this year incorporates the category of International Relations.
The Blanquerna community decided to award the Communication Prize to Manel Alias, journalist in the international department of TV3 and former Moscow correspondent, for his excellent coverage of the war in Ukraine and for being one of the few journalists to cover events from Russian-controlled Donbas. The TV3 documentary "Entre la terra i el cel: guerra" is a great example of good journalistic practice, not only for its mastery of the audio-visual storytelling technique, but also for its sensitivity and considered and humanistic approach to the conflict.
The first Prize in International Relations goes to the Catalan diplomat Francesc Vendrell i Vendrell, who will receive the award posthumously. "Francesc Vendrell i Vendrell has been considered one of the longest-serving and most successful United Nations peace negotiators, he was appointed representative of the UN Secretary-General in several peace processes in Central America in the 1990s and worked on conflicts in East Timor and Afghanistan in the 2000s".
The awards will be presented at the celebratory event that will take place on Tuesday 7 at 6 pm in the Auditorium, as part of the Blanquerna 2023 Conference.
