How can we promote social and labor inclusion among young people with intellectual disabilities?

The Blanquerna-URL School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences and the Pere Tarrés Foundation jointly organize the University Specialization Diploma (DEU) in Social and Labor Inclusion for Young People with Intellectual Disabilities.

The DEU was founded with the goal of providing comprehensive and personalized university training to young people with disabilities with the aim of improving their social and occupational skills and preparing them for integration into new professional areas. For the time being, the course, which began in November and will last for a year, is proving to be a great success, both for the School and the collaborating entities, as well as for the students and teachers who participate in it.

The students are young people between the ages of eighteen and thirty who have a recognized intellectual disability with a degree equal to or greater than 33%. The subject areas are diverse, ranging from lifestyle, uses of technology and communication skills to concepts related to employment, basic economics and social mathematics. After completing the theoretical part of the course, each student must complete an internship in companies and present a final thesis of the training.

The course is free of charge, co-financed by the ONCE Foundation and European social funds, and is also supported by the entities Aura Fundació, acidH, Dincat and Jesuïtes Educació. This is the first time that this DEU has been offered, but, given its success, we hope that it can be repeated next year.
