The directors of the university have chosen journalist and international relations expert Cristina Gallach to be the patroness. Cristina is the General Secretary of the United Nations for Communication and Public Information.

Gallach served for many years as EFE correspondent in Brussels and Moscow, in addition to being the spokeswoman for Javier Solana when he was secretary general of NATO and subsequently High Representative of Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union. She has worked for El Periódico de Catalunya, TVE and El 9 Nou, which she cofounded and where she worked as deputy director.
