Alumna Patrícia Plaja and Marc Homedes, Best Communicator of the Year Award
The Head of Communications of the Mossos d'Esquadra and Alumna of the 11th class of the School, Patrícia Plaja, along with the head of communication of the Directorate General of Civil Protection of the Generalitat, Marc Homedes, are the winners of the Blanquerna Prize for Best Communicator of the year, for the management they did after the attacks of Barcelona and Cambrils, on August 17 of last year.
At 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, a tweet on the Twitter profile of the Mossos reported the tragedy: "There has been a massive run down on the Ramblas of Barcelona, by a person with a van. Possibly some injured." The 112 Emergency telephone, which depends on Civil Protection, did not stop ringing. In a context such as that, communicating with clarity, in a safe, and at the same time, peaceful manner, and without obstructing the investigation, was a challenge that immediately had to be assumed by the Communication teams of the Mossos and of Civil Protection, led by Homedes and Plaja.
The winners will participate in the XXIV Blanquerna Conferences, a series of talks, round tables and debates that will be held between March 5 and 7 in our School and which, this year, will open a discussion about post-truth.
Conference and award ceremony
In fact, on Tuesday, March 6, at 3:00 p.m. in class 201, the winners will participate in the event "The communication of an attack", moderated by Professor Susana Pérez-Soler.
Later, at 6:30 pm, the Dean of the School, Josep Maria Carbonell, will proceed with the awarding of the prize at a ceremony to be held in the Auditorium.
Both events are open to the general public.
