The Methodological Advice Service (SAM in Spanish) of the Blanquerna Faculty of Psychology and Educational and Sports Sciences, Ramon Llull University, has the aim of guiding in and giving support to research activities.

a. Who can use this service?

The Methodological Advice Service of the Blanquerna Faculty of Psychology and Educational and Sports Sciences, Ramon Llull University, is for faculty members, particularly:

a.1. Research groups of the Blanquerna Faculty of Psychology and Educational and Sports Sciences.

a.2. Teachers of the Blanquerna Faculty of Psychology and Educational and Sports Sciences.

a.3. Students enrolled for a PhD programme of the Blanquerna Faculty of Psychology and Educational and Sports Sciences (They can apply for a request as recommended by their thesis director).

a.4. People external to the Blanquerna Faculty of Psychology and Educational and Sports Sciences.

b. What does this service offer?

Users of this service can request advice on:

  • Designing and planning research
  • Guidance on qualitative data analysis
  • Guidance on quantitative data analysis
  • Guidance on designing and analyzing questionnaires
  • Guidance on using specific analysis software
  • Guidance on presenting results (scientific publications).

Guidance is carried out by using software available at the Faculty, as long as the University has a software license agreement.

We should point out that this is an advisory group and therefore the Methodological Advice Service does not take on any decision or task that goes beyond its role of supporting research. For this reason, no task other than the aforementioned shall be undertaken, such as for instance:

  • Transcription of interviews
  • Full data analysis and interpretation
  • Digitalization of quantitative data
  • Data refinement
  • Data processing
  • Writing of scientific reports

c. How much does the service cost? 

  • First request:
    • Blanquerna FPCEE PhD students: €100 (subsidized).
    • Blanquerna FPCEE faculty members with a competitive funded project: €100 (subsidized).
    • Blanquerna FPCEE faculty members without a competitive funded project: €100.
    • Applicants external to Blanquerna FPCEE: €100.
  • Following sessions: €75
  • Data analysis consultation: €45 x hour

 These fees have to be increased with the corresponding legal TAV percentage in case of external invoicing.

d. Requirements for the first interview

Users requesting this service through the corresponding procedure shall have the following documents ready for the first interview with their service advisor. (Depending on the kind of request.)

  • Properly filled in request form
  • Copy of their research project (if appropriate)
  • Pen drive with all complementary data or documents (if appropriate)

e. Procedure to request advice

Service request shall be applied for through the Research Office following the procedure described below.

  1. Filling in the request form that users can download here and sending it via email to the Research Office (montsecr@blanquerna.url.edu or evacr@blanquerna.url.edu).
  2. First interview with advisor. The Research Institute shall manage requests and, depending on the characteristics and topic of the research project, an advisor shall be commissioned. The first interview between advisor and researcher shall take place during the attention hours as established by the service. If the applicant is a PhD student, the presence of their thesis director shall be required for this first interview.
  3. Follow-up. If necessary, the advisor and service user can establish future meetings to follow up the research project.
