Blanquerna Seminars
Small groups, personalized guidance and active learning to train professionals with judgment, competence and commitment
What are Blanquerna Seminars?
The seminars are one of the cornerstones of Blanquerna’s pedagogical model. They are conducted in small groups – usually between 10 and 12 students – which enable a more personalized and participatory learning experience.
In this format, students take an active role in the learning process: they analyze real cases, debate ideas, work in teams, and contrast different perspectives with their classmates and faculty. This setting promotes the development of critical thinking, argumentation skills, and the integration of theory and practice.
The seminars also provide close follow-up by the faculty, who support each student’s academic and personal development throughout their studies.

How will you experience it as a student?
In the seminars, you will experience a closer, more participatory and rigorous way of learning. The small-group format allows every student to play an active role and develop their academic and professional competencies with personalized support from the faculty.
- You will work in small groups
You will share the seminar with a group of approximately 10–12 students, which facilitates participation, dialogue and collaborative work. - You will receive constant feedback

Seminars are spaces for academic discussion where you will learn to express ideas clearly, listen to other perspectives, and build strong arguments. - You will learn to argue and defend ideas
Working with case studies, readings and debates, you will train your critical thinking and your ability to analyze complex situations from multiple viewpoints.

In which programs is it applied?
This small-group learning format is used in both bachelor’s degrees and in several master's degrees and graduate studies, adapted to the specific characteristics of each field of study.

How do they integrate with NEXUS and the pedagogical model?
The seminars are complemented by NEXUS, interdisciplinary and interprofessional learning spaces where students from different fields work together to tackle complex real-world challenges. This combination helps broaden perspectives, integrate diverse viewpoints, and develop key competencies for professional practice.
Through the seminars and initiatives like NEXUS, Blanquerna is committed to a university education that places the person at the center and prepares students to understand, analyze and transform reality.
