Blanquerna was born in 1948 with a determined desire to serve the country through the education of new teachers. From the beginning, the Church’s School of Teachers was a pioneering institution for its particular personalised method and for its commitment to offer education based on three dimensions, which we have never waived: human, academic and professional.
In 1991, Blanquerna was one of the institutions that founded Ramon Llull University (URL), the first private university in Catalonia, which came to enrich the educational offer in Catalonia by contributing with the experience of a long, social and plural initiative. The group of institutions that make up URL were awarded the Campus of International Excellence definitive stamp in 2016, by the Spanish Ministry of Education, with the highest distinction.
At present, Blanquerna-URL offers degree and master’s courses in the fields of psychology, education, sport, health, communication and international relations, all of them linked directly to people’s life.
From that first School of Teachers, the three current schools have emerged: the School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Communication and International Relations. The three of them are located in emblematic areas of Barcelona, and have shaped a new concept of urban campus.
