Information for incoming exchange students 

Every year we receive more than 70 students from all over the world. You can be one of them and come to our School through our different mobility programs, such as Erasmus or other bilateral agreements. First, you have to talk to your home university to see if your School has an exchange agreement with our School. If that is the case, here you will find some information regarding our exchange program.

Nomination and application deadlines

NOMINATION DEADLINES
All universities must NOMINATE their students by sending an email (Name, Surname, email, degree, and semester) to the International Office before: 

15th May for first semester (Fall) students                             

15th October for the second semester (Spring) students

We only contact students once they have been nominated by their home universities. 

APPLICATION DEADLINES
Students must sent the required documents by email to the International Office before:
15th June for first semester (Fall) students

15th November for second semester (Spring) students      
Applications are only accepted within the Deadline

Application procedure

After being nominated by their home university, exchange students will receive an email with  documents and instructions.

Application required documents

  1. Application form for exchange students 
  2. Learning agreement **
  3. A copy of student’s passport
  4. A current student’s academic transcript
  5. A copy of your Insurance coverage (see health insurance)
  6. English certificate. See Language requirements below
  7. Spanish certificate. Recommended: See Language requirements below

Once we received the application form fully filled in and all the required documents, we will  send a letter of acceptance by email. Hard copies of the acceptance letters will be sent only to students who have to apply for a visa.

** learning agreements for Erasmus grant will not be signed until receiving all the applications forms duly filled in and the required documentsop.

CATALAN/SPANISH:

Students do not need to provide evidence of their Spanish or Catalan level by sending certificates, but please note that a student who does not have the required language skills may have difficulty participating in classes and may eventually fail the exams and therefore not obtain the corresponding credits. Recommended level of Spanish and/or Catalan B1, minimum.

Academic calendar

ORIENTATIVE DATES 2019-2020 ACADEMIC YEAR. DEFINITIVE DATES, TO BE CONFIRMED

Fall term: 12th September-20th December WELCOME DAY: September 9th
Exams: 7th January-23rd January(to be confirmed)

Spring term: 5th February-22nd May WELCOME DAY: February 3rd (to be confirmed)
Exams: From the end of May to first half of June
Easter: 4th to 13th April

Retaken exams for 1st semester: Second half of January
Retaken exams for 2nd semester: Second half of June

Subjects from our Official Masters will begin on 16th October (to be confirmed)

Undergraduate courses with groups opened to exchange students

Not all the courses of our study plans are opened to Exchange students. Please check all the groups:

  • FALL semester.
  • SPRING semester. 

Once Exchange students have been nominated by their home universities, we will contact them with more updated information regarding our courses. Exchange students must be flexible in their course preferences as course offerings can change sometimes.

Timetables

Definitive timetables will be delivered to students upon arrival, on Welcome Day.

We do not look for accommodation, but here you are some useful information regarding that matter:

We highly recommend exchange students to look for accommodation in advance, as finding accommodation in Barcelona might be difficult sometimes

Health insurance

-EU Students: European Health Card mandatory. Optional Coverage recommended.

-All non-EU exchange students must have coverage as follows:

All costs related to obtaining any medical coverage shall be a responsibility of students

Visa information

Students from Non-Schengen countries: as soon as they receive the letter of acceptance from our School, they should go to the Spanish Diplomatic Offices (consulate or embassy) and apply for a Study Visa. You can find your consulate on the website of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Portal/en/Paginas/inicio.aspx
If your authorised stay is longer than six months, you must apply for your foreigner Identity Card (TIE), within one month of entering Spain. More information about that: http://www.url.edu/en/international-and-mobility/international-students/non-eu-community-students

Once we received the required documents, we send a letter of acceptance by email. Hard copies of the acceptance letters will be sent only to students who have to apply for a visa

Cost of living

Exchange students must foresee spending at least €1,000 a month on living expenses.

Rent:
350€-500€ (room in a shared appartment) 700€-1.200 € (non-shared apartment)
Take into account that, when renting an appartment, the first month you will have to pay a three-month deposit. This deposit will be returned to you if the appartment is in good conditions at the end of you stay. Also, pay attention to gas, electricity and water expenses.

Food:
Food in general, eating at home: 200€ monthly
Lunch menu in the downtown: €12-€20
Lunch at a cheap restaurant 7 to 12 €
Lunch at the school cafeteria: €6-€7
Going out for dinner 20 a 30 €

Transportation:
Single ticket (bus or metro): 2.15€
10-trip bus and metro travel card: €10.20 (1 zone)
T-jove (three monthly card, unlimited journeys, under 25s): 105€

Personal expenses: 160-220€
