Emilio Morenatti, among the winners of the 2023 Pulitzer Prizes
Professor of photojournalism on the Master's degree in Advanced Journalism. Reporting, from our School, Emilio Morenatti won the prize in the "Breaking news" category, which has been awarded to the entire photography team at AP agency for its coverage of the war in Ukraine.
The prize recognizes the overall work of seven photographers and the editing team, which includes fellow Catalan Enric Martí. The Pulitzer is the most prestigious journalism award in the world. Pulitzer prizes are also presented in the categories of literature, music and theater, selected by Columbia University, New York.
On the occasion of awards week we must also congratulate fellow prize winner Nuccio Ordine, recipient of the 2023 Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities. The Italian thinker and critic Nuccio Ordine was the guest of honor at the 2022 Blanquerna Communication Conference and led the conference's opening ceremony with a talk on "thinking about University".
Ordine is one of the leading specialists in Renaissance art and literature and author of the essay The usefulness of the useless. The award appeals to a vision of culture and humanistic knowledge considered unproductive, as opposed to the usually more highly-regarded and "productive" technological knowledge aimed at purely corporate ends.
