The training provided by the University Master’s in General Health Psychology is necessary to work professionally in this field according to the seventh additional provision of Law 33/2011, dated 4 October 2011 on general public health. This law stipulates professional general health psychology as a regulated profession in which practitioners must hold the corresponding official Master’s degree (Order ECD/1070/2013/, dated 12 June, BOE 14 June 2013).
The purpose of the Master’s is to train professionals in the competences contained in the guidelines of the profession of general health psychology, with a professionalising approach that includes integral, complete training of the future healthcare professional. It aims to provide specialised knowledge and a reflective perspective in the key aspects that define the profession of general health psychology. The curriculum is designed based on what is established in the regulations of the profession of general health psychology, and it includes both basic and specific modules, both of which are compulsory, along with an elective module, the practicum and the Master’s final project. This degree has 90 ECTS credits and should be completed in a total of three semesters, each of which has a 30-ECTS course load. In the event that students do the master’s course part-time, credits will be arranged as follows.
Bachelor's degree certificates in Psychology, issued by Spain prior Order CNU/1309/2018, meet all the necessary requirements to have access to this master's course and, therefore, cannot be excluded from selection procedures and require no training complements.
The method of this Master’s degree course, offered by Facultat de Psicologia, Ciències de l'Educació i de l'Esport Blanquerna-URL, presents different teaching spaces: big group, small group and reduced groups (seminars), conducted by a teacher-tutor, with tutorials and personalized attention, with teachers that combine teaching and clinical praxis. Furthermore, students can optionally choose to take a Personal Development Seminar in order to work on a competence acquisition plan for emotion management, assertive communication, problem solving, leadership and innovation in professional development.
The admission criteria to the Master’s are in line with point 4.2 of appendix I of Royal Decree 1393/2007, dated 29 October 2007, as further outlined in section C of the appendix of Ministerial Order ECD /1070/2013, dated 12 June 2013.
The requirement for pre-registering is having a degree in Psychology, plus, if applicable, additional training that ensures that the applicant has at least 90 ECTS credits specifically in a healthcare field. Students who meet the requirements for admittance may pre-register for the Master’s following the means established by the Blanquerna-Universitat Ramon Llull Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences.
