Students in University Master’s degree programmes have access to the following scholarships and financial aid:
These are scholarships offered by the Ministry of Education as part of the National Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation Plan targeted at Master’s and doctoral students with the goal of promoting the training of university faculty. The programme includes scholarships for brief stays and temporary moves abroad. Applications are accepted yearly and the application procedures are published in the national state bulletin BOE.
With the goal of contributing to furthering the human potential within its sphere of action, and convinced of the importance of scientific progress, research, mobility and professional qualifications in the development of society, the Fundació Caixa d’Estalvis i Pensions de Barcelona offers 65 scholarships to for post-graduate studies at any university or higher education institution in any country within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) except Spain, for which it has a different programme.
The scholarships to study in Germany are offered in conjunction with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The beneficiaries of these scholarships are considered scholarship recipients of both “la Caixa” and DAAD.
The scholarships to study in France are offered in conjunction with the French Embassy in Spain. The beneficiaries of these scholarships are considered scholarship recipients of both “la Caixa” and the government of France.
Likewise, 48 scholarships are offered to pursue post-graduate studies at universities and higher education institutions in the United States and Canada. These scholarships are for Master’s and doctoral programmes; however, depending on the interest of the topic and the candidate’s standing, basic scientific and technical research projects are also considered.
These scholarships are offered by the Cultural, Educational and Scientific Exchange Commission of Spain and the United States to cover the travel costs, medical and accident insurance, room and board, tuition and book and supply fees for Spanish citizens with university degrees who can show a sufficient level of English via the TOEFL test and are interested in pursuing a Master’s or doctoral programme in the United States. Candidates may request scholarships for pre-doctoral research projects on an exceptional basis.
These scholarships are offered to exempt students from paying the supplementary tuition that foreign students must pay to study at universities in Québec. They are targeted at university graduates who can show proof that they are enrolled in higher education programmes in this province of Canada and have Catalan citizenship. For enrolment in Master’s programmes, the maximum exemption is two years, and for doctoral programmes it is three years. These scholarships are managed by the Generalitat de Catalunya’s University and Research Aid Management Agency (AGAUR).

Students have the chance to hold extracurricular student jobs. These jobs are associated with a mentored training programme in which students work in different departments in the Blanquerna-URL faculties with financial compensation. Bachelor’s and Master’s students may apply for these jobs.
