The Master’s degree in Therapeutic Physical Activity for people who are ageing, suffer a chronic pathology or a disability (approved by the AQU Catalan accreditation of quality agency) offers knowledge and an insight into physical activity as a therapeutic tool for the healthcare professional focusing on the treatment of chronic pathologies, disabilities and the consequences of ageing.
The effects on physical capacity caused by a chronic illness, a disability or the ageing process limit a person’s autonomy. Physical activity therefore becomes an essential therapeutic tool with which to address resulting situations. Knowledge of physiological responses to exercise, a multi-dimensional assessment of physical ability, the training methodology adapted to different situations, are key aspects which are vital for a global approach based on physical activity with therapeutic goals.
This master’s course integrates knowledge from different fields and combines theory with practice based on the most up-to-date evidence, discussion of cases, simulations and practice in specialised care environments.
This Master is aimed at physiotherapists interested in aplicabilitats physical activity therapy for people with chronic disease, aging or disability.
